First of all let me tell you I'm a big supporter of Bob Hoskins for the role of the Penguin, but I would like to suggest another candidate for the part. I don't know if his name has been mentioned before and we don't even know if the character will make an appearance in the sequel to Batman Begins, but let me just throw into the casting options the name of Paul Giamatti.

He's an Academy Award nominee for Best Supporting Actor (Cinderella Man) and his career is kinda growing attention due to his latest fine works in movies like Sideways, Cinderella Man, Lady In The Water... He's also got the looks for the Penguin-like character.

The only obstacle I see for him to be cast for the role is that maybe he's too young, but if Phillip Seymour Hoffman was in the mix, why not Giamatti?

I like him personally (Two-Face he is 5'8 1/2") - he ranks right behind Joe Pantoliano (5'10") in my book.

he is a good actor at least.

tip: If you already open a thread with a question in the title make a poll of it.

Poll made. Thanks for the suggestion.

I would better go with Hoskins. Besides, Giamatti is TOO tall for role like this one.

He'd be great, I wouldn't mind him. But I'd rather much have Hoskins. Giamatti is a good second choice, though.

How about no Penguin at all in the movie?

He's a great actor and could definitely pull it off. I wouldn't mind him in the roll at all.

Nah, I'd love to see Oswald. And truthfully, the Post-crisis Penguin would fit better into Nolan's universe than just about any other Batman villain. He's basically Falcone with a monacle, cigarette holder, and an umbrella.

Now heres an idea.

Giamatti....

For Riddler!

Anyone?

If he could lose a little weight, yes, I think he'd make a great Riddler, along the lines of the TAS Riddler.

Penguin is British... if Hoskins is there it's a no brainer... this guy can look like a mobster... i have seen some convincing picks and I hope he gets it...

well if Ledger (and perhaps Phillippe) is anything to go by it seems that Nolan is looking into casting actors whose ages arent too far from each other.

Actually, Penguin has never been British. Not that it really matters though. Hoskins is a little old for my taste, but would still make an awesome Cobblepot nonetheless.

Giamatti has more important things to do like getting ready to play Philip K. Dick
