Steve Carell is interesting. Jonah Hill is different from the idealized "modern and gritty comic-accurate mobster Penguin" I have in my head, but not a bad option either. I feel Ray Winstone would just be Ray Winstone... a bit too tough.

If they were doing a Batman movie with Affleck then sure, I'd be all for Jack Black playing a more seasoned Penguin.. but he's 50 & he looks it.

I'd like someone closer on age to Pattinson ie no older than 10 years.

I don't have any huge problem with Gadd doing it. It's just a real shame a movie like this never got made when Bob Hoskins was alive and in his prime. That man would have crushed welcoming guests into the Ice Burg Lounge and then slinking into the back room to oversee gun-running or contraband smuggling.

Two of the most disappointing missed opportunities were Philip Seymour Hoffman as Penguin and Brittany Murphy as Harley Quinn. It’s a shame Nolan never used those characters/cast those actors. I would’ve loved to see Nolan’s take on Riddler with Leonardo DiCaprio too. Apparently the WB execs were pressuring him to cast Leo as Riddler for TDKR.

I personally find him incredibly annoying; one of the few actors I can't stand but who knows, he might deliver with the right material. Doesn't scream inspired casting as Pattinson does.

How in shape? I don't like my Penguin super obese, but short and stocky is ideal, imo.
