This was the best eight hours of television I've seen since Daredevil season 1.

Even if it's just a few seconds or minutes, I maintain that Sofia should be in The Batman Part II.

Since you'd essentially have to introduce her to people who didn't see The Penguin series, I could see it being something akin to, say, Selina winding up at Sofia's cell and saying "Sofia Falcone?" And Sofia merely responding with "It's Gigante now." And that would be it. Selina's letter to Sofia even still has "Falcone" on it, so it wouldn't be a mistake for Selina to assume that Sofia still goes by that last name.

Sofia and Selena probably will team up but it won’t be in the Batman 2. Remember Reaves said the movies will be from Batman’s perspective. I am guessing the next Reevesverse HBO show will feature The Hangman and the Catwoman after seeing the final Sofia scene. The Penguin’s story has been told so the next story won’t feature Oz Cobb.

Why would The Batman Part II being "from Batman's perspective" mean that Sofia and Selena won't team up in the next movie? For all we know, Batman is going to have to be dealing with them. We know Penguin is coming back for the sequel as well.

I didn’t say they wouldn’t be in it but the movie wouldn’t feature Sofia and Selena. Batman will have bigger fish to fry. I could see Batman interviewing Sophia in Arkham and Selena coming back to Gotham to see her sister but a television series would flesh out their story better.

As a fan of The Leftovers, it just hit me that 3/4 of the teenagers from that show’s first season have gotten roles in this universe (Max and Charlie Carver as The Twins, and Emily Meade as young Francis).

Matt Reeves better start knocking on Margaret Qualley’s door.

I always thought Justin Theroux would CRUSH it as Harvey Dent.

As jarring as hearing his real voice is, to me the surprise is how different his facial expressions read when he's not in character, even through the prosthetics. Like I can truly see Colin in this clip, not Oz.

I did not think Selina's letter to Sofia was a cliffhanger or hint that they were going to team up. To me it was more about closure + giving Sofia some comfort since she was wrongfully accused of being the hangman and Selina knows it was actually Carmine.

I don't buy that that is all that was.

Within the confines of the show, yeah. Reeves was pretty clear in a post-show interview that he didn’t want to play any sort of cliffhanger/“you gotta see the next thing for this to make sense” game with the audience. So, where The Penguin is concerned, it’s a small moment of grace for Sofia, so we’re not leaving her in complete despair.

But in terms of this being part of a universe that will continue on… you never know how things might work out.

I'd prefer a different show in this universe in addition, but you will not hear me object to a possible Season 2 of The Penguin. Long as Lauren LeFranc above all else is back as showrunner.

Reeves has been so deliberate about getting Part II right that I trust he (and LeFranc, too) wouldn’t be considering this possibility if there really wasn’t a story there that needed to be told.

Still a little nervous about it, but we’ll see.
