It did. ;)

Commissioner Savage refers to the “history” they have with Gordon when he joins him in Mitchell's apartment after his murder. Also, Gordon tells Batman he worked on the Maroni case some ten years before the event of the film.
He's definitely a well-established lieutenant at that point.

That said, I don't think we'll see him appear in The Penguin...
But I suppose we can expect to see more of Kenzie and I seem to remember Mackenzie Bock was set to return (rather awkward to have these two with such similar names btw...).
we need HIM to appear

It’s funny. I was flipping through The Long Halloween earlier and was struck by how much present-day Sofia on the show kind of resembles Tim Sale’s Selina, especially at the family dinner.

Her hair doesn’t have quite the same volume, but I see similarities.

They just released a new midseason trailer. Things are starting to get serious based on that trailer.

MID SEASON (episodes 5,6,7,8) trailer:

Jesus, even from just a trailer, some great acting from Colin.

Lordy Lord what's going on with that earthquake-looking sequence?

icl, Batman not being in this show doesn't sit right with me with something like that happening, after the importance of Batman's actions during the city flooding along with the fact that it's something which would put Penguin, Sofia, whoever on his immediate radar very goddamn quickly

I mean, if there is a mob war breaking out, it would be smarter to let each family take one another out before going after the one that comes out on top.

Also, what would batman do exactly, threaten Sofia and take her back to Arkham after being exonerated?

Honestly, I'm happy with the choice of not putting batman on the show. I think his return needs to be on the big screen to have that impact. Would it have been great, sure, but this show is so good that I'm not really thinking about it.

i'm fine with batman not appearing. considering Matt said they discussed him showing up they must have found it better for the story. i will have issues if he is not in future spin off shows, he gotta be in those.

I would be fine with him not showing up, but I do think he should be name dropped. I think it would be too glaring an omission for him to not at least be mentioned while all this violence is happening in the city.

I wouldn’t rule out a cameo from Pattinson in the finale episode. I remember rumors in the last year that Bruce filmed a scene. I bet at least they have a scene with him in the Penguin series like the Joker in the Batman movie.

I do think he'd be there at whatever earthquake type event that is just to try and save who he can

Not an earthquake, but a bomb.

But its clear that the mob isn't very concerned about Batman. Just look at how Oz interacted with him in the movie, not much has changed since then.

We also don't know where/how this show ends. It could very well lead right to the start of the movie, which could then have Batman showing up to assess the scene and help.

They could always just retroactively insert Batman into the events of the series, if that big explosion is the Crux or Finale then they could easily start the sequel with that same scene from Batman’s pov.

Could cold open with Bruce seeing the events being covered on the news or through a private investigation of his own, which then transitions into Batman taking Penguin Down shortly— narratively a few hours— after this show concludes.

The only thing Batman “should” notice is The Falcone family being murdered and depending on the next episode maybe that information never leaves the home? Or at least doesn’t yet leave the home, Sofia is entirely control of the situation so she could technically just keep the information inside until Batman shows up.

Remember episode 2 car scene, btw:

Crime is up by 42% is just one single week, no power or supplies yet to certain districts. It is, as described, a No Man's Land situation in some areas.

Batman is very busy either way.

There are still thousands missing or to be rescued, needing direct help and whatnot. I doubt he had time to prioritize some criminals going at each other. Honestly, they are probably doing him a favor in his book.

Alfred likely opened a Champagne bottle in that hospital bed with the news of the entire Falcones taking themselves out of the picture.

I was watching a YouTuber give the Penguin a mid season review. The reviewer stated IGN had given the show a 5/10 and were getting roasted in their comments section. IGN claims the last episode hurt the show for them. Interesting enough all I here from reviewers who saw the whole show is that the episodes get better and better then it leads into the Batman 2. I guess someone wants to be different. The show is currently at a 94 on Rotten Tomatoes and a 91 audience score.

IGN has been consistently down on the show. The quality of their reviews overall has been quite low in recent years.

He really looks like Penguin from the Arkham Games with this jacket

They certainly managed to make him look like Penguin, not just from the Arkham games...but in general get the vibe right.
Really fantastic work they did.

IGN is one of the most obvious cases where they review for attention.
Where you can tell they care more about going "Viral" than anything else.
Any kind of integrity they had, has gone down the drain years ago.

Yeah. I just read the review. It’s long but you can tell he didn’t like the show idea before he even watched. He kept saying the shoe wants to be the Sapranos and besides the mob family aspect of the show it’s nothing like it. Penguin to me is an original show that is soaked in some realism but still is a comic book show. Arkham and the Hangman murder cover up was very comic bookie to me.
