They can say “its dead” left and right, but if this potential show is half set in Arkham, it’s likely pieces of the Arkham series. Call it what you want. I’m not saying it’s literally going to be “Arkham: The Series”.

Their interrogation scene is also very dope. He’s creepy and ripe for exploration. Joker will never go away so people will have to live with that. This also wouldn’t come out til like 2027-28. I think people will be over Phoenix at that point (they already are), and no one cares about Leto.
 
If there's any truth to this, I'm also of the mind that this is the "evolved" version of the Arkham show and won't be an outright Joker story. He'll just be a major player in it.
 
That's what Reeves said, whatever this other series is, it will have elements of the Arkham series, but it doesn't seem like it will be a series ABOUT Arkham.

I do wonder if we’ll see the next HBO series & Part III on an accelerated timeline given the implications a prolonged wait would have on the DCU.

Joker series of any kind would be a big mistake IMO for this series. Save him for the movies. Don't overexpose him before we ever even see him meet this Batman. Slowly build him up the be the main villain of Part 3.

I'm not buying the rumors. A GCPD spinoff series - sort of the opposite of Penguin - would be better. Plenty of other options to build out the universe beyond Joker.

One of the big sources for the Joker show is noted drunken rapist piece of **** Devin Faraci who has never been much of a scooper even when he was relevant before he became a snivelling hanger-on running a Found Jesus in Prison con job which inexplicably the film community seems to have bought into.
 
Gunn debunked those rumors quickly. Plus I believe Barry will have a good sized role in Batman 2 by the way he has been hinting about it his role in interviews over the years. Most importantly Barry’s “Joker” is similar to Colin’s Penguin in that even though he has the look, it will be an original Reeves take on the character. Looking forward to it. Goodness I hope Sofia survives to make it to the movie. Colin, Barry, and Cristin leading the rouges gallery would be awesome to see on the big screen.
 
It was obviously fake news to me.
I mean, "we had too much Joker" wasn't the point: Joker will be in The Batman 2 like (or more) Penguin was in the first one. Keoghan made it clear in an interview in the past months.
If Joker will be the main antagonist in Part III, do we really think he's gonna need a series to pump the hype?
Plus, the Joker works better if he stays a misterious character (doing an entire character-driven series on him...?) and from the two scenes we saw, Reeves has clearly communicate that his Joker will be a horrorific-misterious presence.

There are so much Bat-villains that works better for a character-driven series:
- Dent (most of all)
- Catwoman
- Mad Hatter
- Clayface
- Ventriloquist
- Jeremiah Arkham/Hugo Strange.

Anyway all the "Arkham series has evolved" means to me just one thing: it went straight in Part 2 (Sofia Falcone + Martha Arkham's past and Elliot's revelations + Joker as Lecter-figure).
 
Not the best episode (to me, it remains Ep. 5), but the right ending.

How they managed the presence of Batman and the references to Selina isn't perfect neither, but is right to the storytelling of the series. And, in this time of cameos and post-credits bulls*its, it's refreshing and a pretty brave choice.

That said, I was expecting a more fireworks-ending, but I have to say that it's coherent to the many references to Breaking Bad: it's not spectacular, but it's damn well written and good for the character's emotional path.
My only real problem: how easily Oz escapes (again) from Sofia's trap.

How Oz's journey ends is pretty subtle and has a lot of metaphors:
- About Vic: - Oz kills him of course because he could betray him, knows too much and "is family", but also because he grew as a criminal and did so good that Oz sees in him the Oz of the past. In that moment, he's killing himself, the old himself, and he's assuring him that he won't be taken down by a greedy nobody like Sofia/Salvatore was. He is fully embracing his Kingpin life. And there are very wonderful similarities with Walt White/Jesse and (mainly) Walt/Gus Fring mirroring in BB.
- About Frances: Oz loves and hates her. He gives everything what she ever wanted - living on the top of the city - but he also knows that she didn't wanted to live as a vegetable. This is the punishment for what she's done. Oz is totally incapable to love, he is totally selfish and self-centered: he wants her as a trophy, a statue in his castle.
 
Oz is one sick “F$&@k, The Penguin to me has a chance to rival Ledger’s Joker as the best Batman villain on the big screen. I believe he will be the Big Bad of Batman 2.
 
So now that it’s all wrapped up, I can safely say that I genuinely enjoyed The Penguin even more than The Batman, which is not something I was expecting to feel when I saw the first teaser. The show is appealing to people I know who are indifferent towards the movie or haven’t even seen it. It connected on a different level, from what I’ve seen.

The fact that Reeves has come out and said that he initially pitched the idea of the whole saga being a streaming series made a lot of sense for me. I always felt like The Batman and the world Reeves was building there would’ve been perfectly suited to an HBO series, and that the constraints of being a mainstream blockbuster were limiting a bit from all it was trying to be. I also think it’s clear that the R rating fits this darker take like a glove and it gave the show more freedom to ‘go there’.

I’m definitely more excited for The Batman Part II than I was prior to watching the show, so that alone is a huge win for LeFranc and Reeves. Now that I have seen strong proof that the multimedia world-building they’re doing is really working, I think I’ll be able to really appreciate the Epic Crime Saga in a ‘greater than the sum of its parts’ sort of way. Though it will still be a little jarring to go back to Oz not saying “f***” every other word. :eheh:
 
The Penguin was genuinely incredible. like, it really is my favorite live action comic book show of all time. Spin-offs are always incredibly risky, but it's clear that Reeves and the team knew what they were doing here, and not only do I think did it pay off, but it has added so much nuance to these characters and this world. An excellent bridge into The Batman Part II.

This better sweep the Emmy awards. Farrell and Milloti both deserve to win, but I also think Deirdre 'O Connell and Rhenzy Feliz deserve award nominations too. I'm blown away by how they all managed to pull this off as well as they did. Heck, it's the best show of 2024 currently, IMO.

I can't wait for The Batman Part II, especially now after having see what The Penguin is setting up. I enjoyed the first film, and while I didn't think it was perfect and I had some nitpicks,, I still gave it a strong 8/10. Now I'm more excited than ever. I'm all in.

With Penguin trying to present "a cleaner image", it actually wouldn't surprise me if we see him no longer swear at all as a result of that. Until his BP increases from a Bat beating which gives us our one and only PG-13 allowed F-Bomb of Part II. It'd make sense
