The Penguin The Penguin on HBO - General Discussion

Absolutely outstanding news, and I really hope either Farrell and/or Milioti take the win. Their performances were and still are fantastic regardless of Emmy wins, so not like any possible victories would validate their work, but still, it'd be nice.

She did a fantastic job as showrunner on The Penguin, so I'd say she's more than earned that deal.

I just hope the endless media speculation hasn’t gotten the team and HBO too hung up on the idea of a Penguin S2 if that’s not something they feel to be bulletproof.

Oz had his moment in the spotlight (and extending shows that were created to be a limited series always create mixed results). Let’s go looking elsewhere in Gotham.

Like, you know… 🐈‍⬛

I'd love to have both. I loved Ferrell's Penguin and would love to see more. :)

I've never seen Adolescence, but that show has been the talk of the town since it came out, so I can't be too surprised that Stephen Graham won. Though, of course, would've been great if both Farrell and Milioti won.

It's an excelleng show, but a tough watch, especially if you're a parent.

Stephen Graham did an excellent job in his role, so it's well deserved. Even though I am biased, I probably would have given it to Colin as I just found that to be more of a unique take on a role as he would have had to build that character from the ground up.

Did Graham not build his character from the ground up?

I don't want to sound like I'm not giving him his due, because he did a really good job and deserved to win, but to me he played a father. There is a lot to pull from in that situation, especially if you are one.

I really like the Penguin. But I do feel like people her put it on a pedestal because it's superhero stuff. There is no Heath as Joker there. It's all very good but pretty standard stuff. Colin is great, but he's riffing on a lot of classic gangster stuff. It wasn't even the best genre show in the last 12 months.

Just wanted to say how happy I was to see Cristin Milioti win last night. Well deserved; simply an amazing performance and, as much as I love Colin, I have to say that Cristin stole the show. I loved her acceptance speech so much too. I feel like I could just watch that over and over again. I feel like she’s been one of those wonderful actors who has been on the cusp of really breaking through for so long and I’m just so happy to see people finally realize how brilliant she really is.
