Clone Wars "The Phantom Apprentice" Spoiler Discussion

Hubris and self assurance is a big part of why the Jedi Order was destroyed. They knew the Clone Army stank to high heaven, but they trusted the Force and their own abilities to steer them through the quagmire of **** they were getting into. And besides what were they supposed to do? Go before the Senate and say, "Uh sorry Supreme Chancellor, but you and the Republic cant use this army that you have the authority to use. Rather you must conscript your own sons and daughters to die. And better do it quick because the Separatists already have an army capable of fighting across the galaxy."

At best they could have stalled things, but Sidious would have just had the Separatists attack the Republic, and then the Senate would have told the Jedi to **** off, and used the Clones regardless.

The Jedi couldnt even set out the war, because Sidious would have just declared the Jedi traitors to the Republic or Separatists allies. Or smeared their reputation in some other way.

The Jedi were ****ed the moment Sidious became Chancellor.

So trusting the Force was wrong...

At best they could've done a million different things. Mace Windu was ready to execute Palpatine in cold blood.

To me it's just bad writing to make the Jedi this stupid.

Trusting the Force is correct. It's trusting people that becomes the sticky issue.

Mace wanting to kill Palpatine makes sense. He is emotional, but the Jedi do one thing with Sith. Kill them. Because if you don't, they get away and make things a lot worse for everyone. Case in point...

Maul: Survives the Battle of Naboo, turns Mandalore into doodoo.

Dooku: Yoda decides to save Anakin and Obi-Wan instead of killing Dooku, Dooku continues to lead the Separatists, and turning billions of lives into doodoo.

Palpatine: Anakin stops his potential death (I personally think he is faking it to get Anakin to kill Mace) and the entire Republic goes to doodoo.

Anakin: Obi-Wan, showing he really isn't the Sith killer, leaves Vader for dead but does not actually finish him off. Let's forget the millions he killed because he saved his son in the end. So no doodoo! :D

None of that excuses all the bad writing and storytelling. They knew the clones were suspicious. They knew Darth Sidious started the Clone Wars. They knew the clones had suspicious chips in their heads, and they just went on business as usual.

In other words, maxie big da force. Well dat smell stink o' wiff.
