World The Phantom Zone

When imprisoned in the Phantom Zone, are you able to do anything, or are you just a helpless phantom? Supergirl the movie did their take on it, but I don't imagine it to be like that. And what was the final deed that got Zod, Ursa and Non convicted of their crimes???

i loved Supergirl's take..... except for the climbing out/danger tornado thing. That was weak. Man, I hope the Phantom Zone pops up in SR2.
