A random shot of my baby.

I held a used Nikon D1H and Nikon D2X. The latter was formerly used by the Australian navy!

This weekend I'll be renting a Nikon D7000 for an indoor sports event. But I'll bring my F100 anyway. :woot:

The D7000 performed well last Saturday. I have never shot so many pictures for one event before. I'll post a sample later after I figure out how to use Adobe Bridge to convert the RAW NEF file.

Shot with a Nikon D7000. 30-700 mm G Nikkor lens. Mounted on a Benbo ballhead with a Manfrotto 680B monopod. Edited with Adobe Photoshop CS5.

Here are a few photos I took when I went through Budapest last year.

Budapest Train Station

A building across from the station. The picture captured it quite well, but in person, the colouring from the sun and the (somehow) blueness of the windows complimented each other amazingly well and it was a lot more golden.

I got these at the perfect time of day, when the sun is really orange and it's just setting. Budapest itself was really phenomenal.

Midnyte,

Hahaha. Nice. I'm actually looking at Tamrons right now, about 3 of them. Total of 1.5K. But I'll get a wide angle, 24 - 70 and 70 to 200. Then I'll start saving up for a FF camera, as I'm waiting to see what Canon announces end of this month or beginning of next month. They say releasing a new FF. Despite I currently have kit lens: 18 - 55. 55 -250, and Nifty Fifty. The only lens I spent for was the 50mm. Freaking love that lens for 100 dollars. The rest I got with the camera, along with a 250 external HD. I love Newegg's deals. =D

I don't have that kinda like with Vegas, I lost with what I did spend a few years ago. Just about 50 since we we're there more for the sights, and that's what got me serious again for shooting to be honest and learning OCF.

If ya wanna see my other stuff, here is link to my FB: (Please like me. Hahaha!)

A full frame? Nice price tag attached to that one probably lol. I'm also a Canon person and wouldn't mind one of those cameras in about 5 or 6 years. We'll see how much new technology they can press into that bulky frame. I hope all these lenses will be backwards compatible!

Mandalore,

Nice! It's all about lighting, really. =) More than that, but that's the basic jist. Hehe.

Red,

Not my cup of tea, but not bad exposure at all & good expression at the top it!

Midnyte,

Yes, I'm not looking forward to that tag at all. That's the only thing I don't like about Canon is they change it up, but it does let them integrate newer technologies into it, tho. But with Nikon it's nice have your lens work all from the beginning, even if it's manual.

Doing my first baby shoot tomorrow at a park, and the little tike will be 3 or 4 months old. I can't recall what she said, and this time it won't be a paid gig since this is totally new to me. Just get to use 'em for a portfolio which she is happy with (Co Worker). Thinking of usin' my 24' softbox but I know baby skin is a pain to get tones on. =/

Reflector I guess is in!

I'm beginning to think that I need a new camera. I have an advanced point and shoot, Sony DSC-H20 and I always use manual setting when I shoot. But I feel like my pictures haven't had the same kind of "pop" that DSLRs tend to. I also feel somewhat limited since I can't really control my aperture, aside from going to a f3.5 to an f8. It really makes it hard when I'm trying to shot in a place with poor lighting since I either have to use flash or set my shutter to below a 1/30th and risk getting blurry images.

I once thought my point and shoot was the slickest thing on earth...but now that I have a DSLR,when I look at my old camera, I just feel underwhelmed. It's amazing though how many shots I got out of it.

The funny thing is when I took a photography class last year, I was the only one who was using a point and shoot and my professor told me that even though I got an A in the class like a lot of other students, he would've given me an A+ if they could give those at my school because that's how good my pictures and assignments were. It almost makes me wonder how much better they'd be if I had an DSLR.

That class was more important than having a DSLR first.

SpideyVille,

Don't knock a P&S. I've seen some damn impressive shots with these, it's just all about the lighting. Granted, you can't have bokeh in a shallower DoF, but you can still do impressive things with them.

Unless you go into manual mode, on a SLR, it's just a waaay over priced P&S anyways that have a little bit better quality due to the sensor. Yet, P&S are catching up in the reality of things. Even in poor lighting conditions a SLR is still going to suck unless you know how to use flash.

Red Mask,

Exactly. I was taught by my mom how to develop and everything back in the film days so I'm not as worried. Granted, a lot of people once they buy a SLR they think they are the best thing since sliced bread. I'm not, faaaar from it. I'm still a serious hobbyist that wants to learn more, and get better equipment at this point. =)

True, I mean the fact that I was using an advanced P&S which gave me more control than a standard P&S would helped me understand all of the different aspects of photography. My sister has a DSLR and last time she came to visit, I borrowed it and pretty much knew how to use it and what to adjust, whereas she didn't know anything about it since she took all of her pics on auto.

Oh I'm definitely not knocking P&S cameras. I love mine, especially because I know how to control my shots. Plus the fact that I was able to get such high praise in my class against the other students, who had really great shots themselves, speaks to how well mine holds up in comparison.

But what I'm saying is that I haven't been happy with the quality overall lately when I compare similar shots with others, and its mostly because of the limit I have with depth of field and how I always have trouble in darker areas. With that said, I don't usually like to use flash and I can definitely use more practice with that. But I think my issue with my photos have been with how "flat" the subject looks in comparison to the background, and I think I may need to start changing my focus settings.

So I'm trying out my Macro camera a little bit today. I tried to shoot a rose under direct sunlight (1PM) , but the colors were so vibrant, it washed out the detail. I used the lowest ISO, manual focus, and changed my White Balance, but it didn't seem to help. Should I just wait till the sun goes down a little bit to try again? Here's the result:

Kind of photography related. Check out this cake my ex-girlfriend made for another photographer.

Midnyte,

Nice. Yeah, you can tell it was done in the afternoon, IMO. Despite that you even mentioned it. I would try to shoot it when there is less harsh light, or put a piece of cardboard over where you are shooting. I had to do that the other day when I was trying to take first first real attempt at a young baby. Instead I just used a reflector, same principal applies.

Metamorpho,

Hahaha. That's awesome!

guys need some advice can you look at my site and dev art and suggest some shots, i've a comp this thursday for big prints (50cmx40cm) and honestly not sure what ones to pick

links are in my sig

Attempt number 2. Shot it earlier (11am) and bracketed my exposure. The darkest shot was able to capture better detail, but unfortunately, I forgot to kick up my shutter speed so it looks a little blurry.
