Jolie Holland
Shelley Short
Elf Power
The Sword
Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan
Doves
Calexico
Handsome Family
Juana Molina
Praxis

I don't download leaked albums because it's unfair to the artist but I am looking forward to hearing it when it comes out in stores.

Why does anyone recommend any band? It's pretty obvious... it's because you like them.

Kid Silver's "Dead City Sunbeams"Is awesome.
the opening track goes from beatiful to erie all in 4 to 5 minutes, the instrumentation is pretty good, dense chock full or diferent little things happeing all over the place, the other tracks are good , but really nothing quite reaches the sheer awesomeness of the opening track.
the singer used to be in a 90's band called "rollerskate skinny" (batbrain might know it...you're scottish right dude?)
edit: no, you're Irish :csad: with none other than kevin shields brother or cousin or whatever.
it's one of those rare albums that came out a while ago (1999) but it doesn't fell dated at all. some of the stuff that's happening now, you just know that you'll listen to it later on and go "geeeeeesh" but this doesn't have that "in sound of now" feel and you can't really classify it easily.
plus the guy's voice is great, and it's rare nowadays to find a band whose singer can can actually...you know, sing (art brut, I'm looking at you)

I am Irish and so are Rollerskate Skinny. :D I have to admit though, I never heard of them until last year. They're a really great band, highly recommended.

Just to elaborate on one of Kakkarot069's suggestions

Judas Priest
Sad Wings Of Destiny

Judas Priest second album, Alot of people like to think of Judas Priest as a one note band. This album shows a great range, you get classic style of Rock-n-Roll, a psychedelic Led Zepplin-esque sound and the type of grinding heavy Power-Thrash that they had invented. A very well rounded highly emotional album.
My personal favorites song: Tyrant, Epitath, Victim of Changes, Dreamer Deceiver/Deceiver.

Sounds pretty good so far.

Wouldn't figure you for a Decemberists fan, Slipknot.

The Island is the best song on the album, i've heard it described as "prog-folk" by a few people. The Perfect Crime is my second fave so far.

azure ray

i think she has a beautiful voice and her music is very soft and calming

Heh, yeah. I listen to all different types of bands and genres. "The Island" is a very good song... I probably like that and "The Crane Wife 3" the best as of now.

I downloaded a few songs off of The Crane Wife and I am loving it. The Perfect Crime and Sons and Daughters are my favourites at the moment.

it's actually two girls. very pretty music fer sher.

Kasabian is a very good band. Their new album "Empire" is great... you should check it out. I just randomly found out about them a few weeks ago via MySpace of all places.

From what I've heard of it, Ratatat's new album sounds amazing. A lot of Beatles circa Seargent Pepper influence to the guitar rather than the Prague Rock style from their first album. I'm not sure that it's better than the first album, but it's certianly as good.

oh and i recommend M83, if you're into shoegaze/electronic
