I's a really good song. Very different to the stuff from their first album.

I was supposed to be seeing them tomorrow night but things came up and now I can't :csad: How were they when you saw them?

Damn, that was pretty lucky. Cool venue too.

Can't wait for the new album.

+/- are going to be huge, you just wait and see

do they both sing? they started in a great place :) sorry i messed up but i love THEM then

yup, they both share the singing duties. no problem, i just thought you might like to know that it was more than one singer. they both have solo albums out, as well. check out this link and you can find out more about them here, their names are orenda fink and maria taylor.

and why do you recommend these bands exactly?
they have some really good vocals as well as guitar riffs and talent... of course, it would help if you were into metal to begin with.

Failure is an awesome band from the early 90's.....Ken Andrews went on to form "On" and "Year Of The Rabbit" and one of the band members formed "autolux"

That was a pretty funny misunderstanding.

I didn't check all 45 pages, so if someoned mentioned it before then I apologize.
The Misfits!
Static Age
Walk Among Us
Earth AD/Wolfsblood
All incredible albums, though some may disagree about the last one.

Earth A.D was good, But I also liked Samhain and Earth A.D was an obvious Transition into Samhain. Most people that don't Like Samhain don't like Earth A.D.

Have you heard of Cancerslug Daredevil? You should check them out.
cancerslug.net

They are kind of a mix between Misfits/Samhain/Danzig but alot more lewd.

I picked up their EP "They Make Beer Commercials Like This" and I wasn't very impressed. They sound almost excatly like Hey Mercedes. If you like Minus The Bear, you'll love Chin Up Chin Up. They're much better at what they do than MTB. Give 'em a listen.

Yeah, you could tell by Earth AD danzig wanted to take it in a whole new direction.
As for Cancerslug, they're f**king hilarious lyrically, I definately understand the comparisons musically and vocally.
Lewdness aside, the music is really good.

I just listened to some Hey Mercedes and they really sound nothing like MTB, aside from their singers.

I can hear the Chin Up Chin Up similarities though, musically not vocally. maybe if Hey Mercedes' singer sang for Chin Up Chin Up they'd be Minus the Bear.

After more listening, I really like Chin Up Chin Up, Hey Mercedes remains really boring however.

Yeah, the singers for HM and MTB sound very similar, but so does a lot of their music, in my opinion. You're right about HM, they are really boring. They're ex-members of Braid, which was a much better band. I think CUCU has new album coming out next month, so keep an eye out for that one. Their last full-length, "We Should Have Never Lived Like We Were Skyscrapers" is a really consistent album and I can't recommend it highly enough. I saw them at the Pitchfork Festival in Chicago a month ago and was blown away by their live performance, too.
