The Princess and the Frog

anyone think the villian kinda resembles the father from the proud family lol

Bruce W. Smith did the character design for this movie, and he created that show, so yeah.

I think this film was extremely well done, the only thing I would've liked to see was a quick back story for Naveen, as though this is marketed as a princess film, it seemed more split between the two when I watched it... his being there practically propels the whole story, with him being the one who messes with the shadow man and all, after all it is called "The Princess and the Frog"
-unlike previous Disney damsels, he serves a majah purpose, so I kinda view him on equal standing as Tiana

I can't get over how awesome Dr. Facilier was... it dawned on me and I wanted to ask is Dr. Facilier the first Disney princess villain without a lackie???
I know he has his shadow (does that count?), and influences the butler, but he doesn't have a real lackie like Iago, Malificent's Raven or even Ursula's eels to command and spy etc... he kinda takes charge and does everything himself, even running alongside the shadows and squishing poor Ray
... also is he the first non-ugly one either??? I know disney likes to make bad and good as plain as day and night in their films (beautiful princess v. ugly bad guy) (fairy godmother Mama Odie in white and bad voodoist Dr. Facilier in black)

I really think the music was lacking in this one. Watching Tarzan again, I feel they could done a whole lot better, especially being in New Orleans.

Tarzan had awesome music :awesome:

Just saw this with my 6yr old little bro, and I really enjoyed it. The music was great

I just got back from seeing it. It was wonderful! True classic disney. Dr Facilier's song sent chills up my spine, literally.

Cant get better than Phil collins. :hehe:
True Collins did bring some pretty good music to Tarzan... hums "Strangers Like Me"

IMO not all the songs had to be better, for me if "Almost There" was more up beat or grand, like Lion King's "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" or Aladdin's "Prince Ali" and Ray's song "Evangeline" had more magic to it, to match the incredible animation onscreen, maybe even a few singing lines from Tiana and Naveen could've been added kinda like an "Whole New World" mini duet within it

$86 million domestically overall and it looks like they will make their budget back afterall. It actually grew in profits at the box office.

^that news article is sad. Princess & the Frog was really well received by critics and the general audience. Pixar is nice but why can't we have both?

I saw this movie and it was very charming and funny. I really really enjoyed it and it was better than I expected. Its not up there with The Lion King or Beauty and the Beast but its certainly nothing to be ashamed of. Its much much better than Disney's previous 2D film, Brother Bear.

8/10

but.........but..... i liked brother bear. :csad:

I don't know why Disney is scrapping the animated musicals so early after "Princess." The film isn't even out on DVD and Blu-ray, and I think sales/rentals for that would be extremely good. After all, a lot of Disney's Renaissance movies made their mark on home video sales. The Little Mermaid, which did decent business in its original November 1989 release, made an absolute killing when it was released on VHS and DVD.

But considering how the game has changed in the late noughties, it probably wouldn't stop Disney's plans to halt 2-D animated movies.

@Black-Spidey
Eh...it was just okay. This movie was much better. But maybe thats because I was really starting to miss classic 2D disney films. My theater enjoyed it very much.

Brother Bear was a safe and generic Disney film. No frills what so ever.

you know.. if they are so upset that P and the F didn't attract male audience.. it's kinda humerous they went from one princess to another (Rapunzel) and then wanted to do a movie called the snow queen... which i've seen some adaptations of... and its still not very masculine... its not those films fault.. they just need to market a film with a balance. Aladdin imo was a perfect balance for the boys and girls

Disney should go with original stories, like Pixar does. Drop the fairy tales, people are sick of them. Shrek changed how we see happily shallow ever after!

i just saw the film....... so let me guess this straight

the firefly died during their journey to get the princess to kiss the frog......... when all they had to do was get the prince frog marry the girl frog so that the girl frog can be a princess, and that would have broke the spell after they kiss.......... and then the firefly would never had died if they had done that in the first place....... but come on....... the firefly didn't become a star, it doesn't make sense....... FAIL

My issue with the movie was the pacing. The second act was ponderous.
