you see what a R rated action movie can show? notice how there are no quick cuts to get a PG13 rating? long shots where you can SEE everything. isnt hte point of an action movie that you can see the action? is the budget 200 millions? no. because you dont need to see the whole city destroyed.

i hope for more movies like that

I can't wait for a release whether it be theatrical or Blu-Ray since Sony Pictures purchased the rights.

Just saw the trailer... am flabbergasted..

one action film to rule them all

Oh, oh... oh my God. This looks amazing.
Take note, Hollywood. Stop quick-cutting your goddamn action scenes.
Nolan included.
This makes Quantum of Solace look like a fast-forwarded brain-fart.

I want to see this film.

Like, now.

I like the shot of that one cop shooting that guy 3 times in the face while theyre both on the ground.

This looks real good.I'll be seeing this when it comes out.

Holy goddamn.

I smell a new action star and director being born right here. Gonna keep an eye out for Gareth Evans and Iko Uwais from here on out....might be the next John Woo and Chow Yun-Fat.

Music score by Mike Shinoda is a plus, too, in my book.

Thanks for this, dark b....this is the first trailer I've been genuinely excited about since "300."

They couldn't get this guy for Die Hard 5? They really needed John Moore?

The fight choreography is freaking fast and brutal. I can count at least three moments where you wont see anything like that in a typical American made actioner.

Maybe its because Thai actors are willing to go the distance to make the scene look good.

Most American action movies today are restricted to PG13, so we don't get to see how brutal things can get. Even ones that go into R territory are still mediocre at best(Expendables).

We can always rely on Asia for amazing action moves. Hard Boiled is my favourite ever. And this looks ****ing awesome.

Dem ballls, this looks incredible. Shot after shot, the trailer is striking. That moment of an officer bum rushing the criminal across the room, ahh, this needs to be released now.

And it's not just the action, the concept is so ideal, too. You got 30 floors of baddies to go through with the boss man at the top? Yes, yes, and yes. YES.

Its like the Game of Death except with dozens of bad guys and a couple of cops all armed with guns, knives, and balls so big you could knock a wall down with 'em!

I saw this last week at TIFF. It IS amazing, and the audience cheered every 5 minutes. The action is insane. So much blood and carnage. At first I didn't think they'd actually show the money shots, cus they shy away from them a couple of times in the beginning, but it appears they did so so the payoff for everything else that happens in the film would be huge. And it was!

The main actor, Iko Uwaise, is fantastic. You care for him, Cheer for him, and you want him to win and make it out alive. He did a Q&A afterwards and he's this tiny little person, totally unassuming, and he pulls off some of the best martial arts in the film I've ever seen.

Btw, I don't think they're remaking this. Sony Pictures bought the film for the States, and Alliance bought it for Canada. Along with that, after the screening the film was sold to countless distributers around the world (Australia, Italy, Spain, UK, etc). Mike Shinoda is reworking the score to the film now, so that suggests they plan to release it in theaters (I'm guessing early 2012).

I was gonna choose Attack the Block as my movie of the year (so far) but after seeing this, The Raid comes in at number 1. No contest.

Yes Sony bought the distribution rights but its been reported that Screen Gems(the sister label) is planning on remaking it because this is just a bit "indonesian", whatever that means.

My best guess is that they're gonna steal the concept and add in more American tropes to appeal to the audience.

Like I said, I believe this is all hearsay and not actual fact. The Raid is getting released in theaters. It was purchased by dozens of distributers around the world, including Alliance in Canada and Sony in the States. The music from the movie is getting re-scored by Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park. They wouldn't have him busting out hard music for this if it wasn't going into theaters and never seeing the light of day. They would have just hired him for the "remake".

If there is a remake, it will take a while to get everything prepped, shot, and ready to go. All the while Sony plans on releasing The Raid in theaters early 2012.

Summers done and apparently so is the need to bash pointless action films with no substance.

Good cause I'm tired of defending them, nice to see everyone finally show their true colours.
