:cmad: What you tryna say, boy? I pick cotton? Like my slave ancestors? Brought over from the muthaland? I ought to slap the taste out yo' mouf. :o :p

Terry, I can't seem to open this bottle of Tylenol, you mind opening it for me?

Jon Stewart is our hero.:csad:
I love him too. It's just that I'm not a facsist Brain Police Knee-Jerk, Ignorant Crybaby.
Saying Obama is a "Magic Negro" is so insightful and clever and I think the majority of the people who are so offended don't even know what the term means. :o
They should watch Bagger Vance.

i never said limbaugh should be fired. here's my original comment on this situation:

now, how can you compare jon stewart to him when you've never watched the daily show? stewart rips on politicians from both parties and he's never sunken to the level of limbaugh by making controversial statements about someone's race, religion, sexual preference or disability, at least not in a mean spirited way.
Then why do you listen to Rush if you find him so controversial?

Then why do you listen to Rush if you find him so controversial?

i don't. when did i say i did? the only thing that really offended me about rush was the way he treated michael j. fox, and the only reason i found out about that was due to the media coverage because it was so controversial. the only point i'm trying to make is that i don't agree with the comparison of rush and jon stewart. obviously rush can say anything he wants on his show and i don't necessarily think he should lose his job over it, but i do question how he became popular in the first place.

They just want conservative voices silenced. Just like on these boards.... :yay:

Imus is about as liberal as it gets for a supposed republican an Rush is as conservative as any one person can possible be so wtf are you talking about?

Okay, rolly-eyes, give me some examples. When has Jon Stewart gone out of his way to "shock" his audience? Give me something vulgar and/or offensive, which he has said like he really means it, that is supposed to make a point, like something Rush would say.

I think it's amazing that so many are tossing and turning in their sweat soaked sheets because Rush, a fat loudmouth who just talk-talk-talks all day, S.A.I.D. something.....when the real people who should be fired are GEORGE W. BUSH and DICK CHENEY, whose lies and A.C.T.I.O.N.S. have cost tens of thousands of lives. :o

Your priorities are beyond screwed up. :down

We say that all the time, and Bushies just tell us to shut up and stop hating America.

Well I heard this on my buddy's podcast of Rush Limbaugh (He said I'd actually want to hear it, so it was enough to see what it was) and it seems that Rush's years of calling Global Warming a hoax have gained a degree of credibility. According to all four major global temperature
tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) that have released updated data the last year saw an entire degree drop in global temp that effectively erases 100 Years of warming.

According to Rush, this proves that it was all a hoax and an attempt by the liberal left to use scare tactics and fear mongering for 'tree hugging' packages in the worldwide scheme of things. He even speculated that Gore should be stripped of his Award.

I'm not going to delve into the world of Limbaugh's mental machinations, but this story is indeed correct. It seems that global warming isn't at all what it's cracked up to be now that anecdotal evidence is confirmed by scientific fact. Here's the info I could find on the fly:

DailyTech.com said:
Twelve-month long drop in world temperatures wipes out a century of warming

Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded.
China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in
all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile -- the list goes on and on.

No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature
tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped
precipitously.

Meteorologist Anthony Watts compiled the results of all the sources. The
total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C -- a value large
enough to erase nearly all the global warming recorded over the past 100
years. All in one year time. For all sources, it's the single fastest
temperature change ever recorded, either up or down.

Scientists quoted in a past DailyTech article link the cooling to reduced
solar activity which they claim is a much larger driver of climate change
than man-made greenhouse gases. The dramatic cooling seen in just 12 months time seems to bear that out. While the data doesn't itself disprove that carbon dioxide is acting to warm the planet, it does demonstrate clearly that more powerful factors are now cooling it.

Let's hope those factors stop fast. Cold is more damaging than heat. The
mean temperature of the planet is about 54 degrees. Humans -- and most of the crops and animals we depend on -- prefer a temperature closer to 70.
Historically, the warm periods such as the Medieval Climate Optimum were
beneficial for civilization. Corresponding cooling events such as the Little
Ice Age, though, were uniformly bad news.

Rush has been crowing about that the entire day after years of the same and sees it as a victory for himself and those that subscribe to his views.

So, what do YOU think?

Well, now that the all mighty Prophet has spoken, we can call this case closed

Heh, that made me chuckle.

Ah but chuckles aside, this is quite possibly one of the biggest weather based stories in some time and it's not being carried at all. Limbaugh seems to think the media won't carry the story on par with Global Warming, if at all, because it would basically make them out to be foolish and undermine the liberal nature of the media.

I don't know if I'd go that far but it is rather odd to see something like this passed over when we hear something about Global Warming several times a week.

Because Rush Limbaugh is the be-all-end-all knowledge of wisdom right? Please tell me that you don't actually believe this?

Don't know if you noticed, but I clearly stated that it's necessary to look past RUSH and look at the facts as published on a global level.

Global > Rush

I didn't see that, my apologies.

Pundits like Rush Limbaugh think they can just dismiss a phenomenon that many scientists around the world have agreed upon, and make it into a political issue. But then again, they think they have all the answers.

Since when is science a popularity contest? While I don't care for Limbaugh, what does he have to do with the "four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS)" which released the updated data? These four outlets aren't exactly obscure strangers posting on blogspot.

There have been quite a few people predicting this global cooling trend because they got this crazy idea the sun (well particularly sunspots) might be have a bigger impact on temperature than thems gas guzzling SUVs. My favorite part of the article

A compiled list of all the sources can be seen here. The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C -- a value large enough to wipe out nearly all the warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year's time. Anyways its okay to pollute as long as you buy carbon credits (Just like Al Gore in Live Earth), because like cheating in video games - its ok if you punch in the right codes. Maybe people should buy fatty credits every time they veer off their exercise and diet plan. :lmao:

Hey don't get me wrong here, I have always advocated and practice energy efficiency. I just don't buy the Global Warming "crisis". Ooops I mean "Climate Change" now ;)

The term "global warming" is confusing for some. it does not necessarily mean every part of the world will heat up. That's not the way the world works. Extra heat in some areas will cause cooling in others. (ie. el nino etc)
