The Avengers The Sam Jackson/Nick Fury thread

So, anyone know if there are any recent pics of Sam L? I'm kind of curious what kind of shape he's in, if he has in fact gotten into shape for this.

The artist designed the Ultimate Nick Fury on Samual Jackson.

I love the way SamJack looks as Fury. One glance at the guy and you're certain he can kick major ass, with or without superpowers. That is exactly the impression Nick Fury should give viewers. The audience needs to believe that he can pull off bringing together the Avengers and face down any foe.

The latest in my MyPaperHeroes Avengers series.

Ill put them all online when the film comes out and you'll be able to build them yourselves!

JAckson was BOSS as Nick Fury....felt bad he didn't have much control of the situation...then again, he wonderfully manipulates the avengers into existence, lol.

I wish there were more...badass moments with him, but they did a good job for the most part. A SHIELD movie would be dope.

Love SLJ and love his character in this.

Best scene in film is when he explains the Avengers concept to Rogers and Stark.

He really shined at the end with his "A promise" speech to the council.

Jackson gave a wonderful performance. It never felt like "Sam Jackson playing Sam Jackson," which is an all-too-common criticism. (How can anyone say that when we don't know Jackson personally? But fans make those assumptions too readily when actors give great performances in iconic roles.)

For me the his best scene was the one where Fury was talking to Steve and Tony after Phil died. Jackson had the bulk of the dialog in that scene, if not all of it, and he delivered it masterfully. The way Jackson's voice nearly broke when he said, "Lost my one good eye. Guess I had that coming," gave a glimpse of Fury's grief over Coulson's death. The reactions of Evans and Downey were the perfect counterpoint to Jackson's monologue.

And what's also great about that scene is you later found out Fury manipulated them. I really like Ultimate Fury because he makes a lot of shady decisions and is a bastard, but knows he is and is aware of the sketchy things he does. I wish there was more of that in the film, but we got glimpses when we see him manipulate Cap and Iron Man and earlier with the reveal that he is trying to build WMDs with the cube.

I do think Sam still played him a little cooler than he needed to be, but that's hardly a complaint.
