The sequel...

What else can they focus on? I thought that this was Wolverine's origin. Don't tell me the ending left it open to more?

The after the credits scene did. But I'm just saying, there are more stories they could tell, especially taking place after X3. Yea, I agree, this was a massive mistake, this mean the movie, but it doesn't mean Wolverine's story needs to end here.

i have always said this but they could of done a x4 after x3 yes x3 sucked but the damages could of been repaired if director and there writers really thought it through.X men 4 could of been a start to a new set of trilogies since everything ended in x men 3 on a "its Over" note you could of started a new series with sentinels and other things

Kind of what they're doing with Spider-Man? Yea, that would've been better. I personally think them pulling the continuity forward would've been a wiser choice then to go back and tatter what Singer did.

the sequel needs to be grittier. i know it would still be pg-13 but it needs to be way more serious and brutal, gavin did a decent job showing the emotion but didnt do well on the action, special effects, and story. unfortunatly films like these use a good amount of cgi, so it needs decent cgi.
as far as villians, allies, and cameos go Omega red, silver samurai, lady deathstrike, maybe sabertooth are all good choices as villians and cameos.

for the allies, i'd like to see a full on deadpool (costume and all, no optic beams) bent on getting revenge on logan (one of the many things on his to do list), but realizing he's not the same man, deadpool backs off and helps him (maybe in the final battle).

id also like to see a mutated victor creed, kind of hairier and even more feline like, maybe a little bit more feral, but id like to see him fight and help logan.

as far as logans memory goes, it should be clouded, fuzzy, and a little incorrect (like the scene from x2) and he should have a berserk feral type state he goes in (like at the end of xmo:wolverine).
thats what i wanna see in a sequel

i guess im alone in not wanting another Wolverine movie

I really don't think Logan should run across Deathstrike or Sabretooth. While it'd be great to see Liev's version of the character transforming or devolving into a more feral state, Logan can't meet that version of the character before X1. As long as Creed's still Creed and not the more or less mindless-goon-Sabretooth it'd be fine. It'd be nice to see his reaction to Logan's memory loss.

A pre-Deathstrike Yuriko you could -maybe- fit in as a cameo, as long as Logan doesn't have any scenes with her. Just a little blink and you'll miss it, "Hey that was Deathstrike!" kinda thing maybe.

I think with the weekend take it is inevitable we will get a sequel as this is Fox's and especially Jackman's most profitable franchise.

So Japan would probably be the only way to go, but if they do Japan I would want Yuriko and that would unfortunately mean another mind-wipe. Maybe at the end of the movie Wolverine and Yuriko are captured by Stryker, and he wipes both of their minds in a DIFFERENT way freezes Yuriko, but Logan escapes.

I say no to Yuriko. Enough with characters he doesn't remember in the later movies.

Give us new characters who he doesn't encounter later in the Singer/Ratner-verse.

Mariko, The Hand, Hellfire Club (but no Mastermind), Silver Samurai, Sunfire or Sunpyre, or maybe Moses Magnum (he was from a later X-Men story trying to use an energy beam to create earthquakes on Japanese islands, Banshee counteracted the energy beam with his scream)

X-Men 3 was meant to be the end for the saga, but it wasn't and that's unfortunate. When I see it, somehow, even X-Men 2 had a better end to the franchise than the third film. So many things were left unanswered or unexplained.
There was a cure, that in the end wasn't a permanent one. Xavier died, but in the end he didn't. Rogue took the cure, but if it wasn't permanent, then what's the point.
I think that the best thing would be to reboot the franchise, but at this point it is unlikely. Then I say... let them make another one. Another X-Men film that will conclude all the unfinished things of this franchise. One epic masterpiece of two and a half hours with Magneto, Genosha, the complete Brotherhood, Sentinels, the return of Xavier, the final war between Humans and Mutants. We need this conclusion. The battle at Alcatraz was just the beginning of the war... and Magneto is still there, free, and regaining his power. They need to make it as it is a real end to this whole saga.
But if this film succeeds in smashing the box office, then the possibilities are endless... the Hellfire Club, Sinister, the return of Cyclops, the resurrection of the Phoenix and Apocalypse.

Nathan Jones needs to be Cyber:

and what does every Xmen finale battle take place on an island...sure X2 happened at Akali Lake...but it looked like an Island

What about Alpha Flight? Or Wendigo? Or Cyber?

You want drama, then Deathstrike needs to be there. Her, Silver Samurai, and Sunfire would be cool. Have some international mutants show up as Wolverine really goes globetrotting. Omega Red and so forth.

I kind of imagine the sequel will be wolverine following anything he can find. Personally i think the character of Cyber will be the reason he ends up in Japan... i figure, Cyber is an agent working for weapon x back in the day, however Cyber left several years later, after the wolverine inccident, Cyber recognises him and so Cyber fights wolverine thinking stryker has come back to get him, however wolverine doesnt remember his past, the outcome would be he follows Cyber to Japan, where we find Cyber as the new body guard of silver samurai... we then team up Wolverine with sunfire who is investigating silver samurai because he has kidnapped his sister, sunphyr... we also find Lady Deathstrike there as the daughter of the silver samurai, it alters her origin for the movie but could you imagin wolverine killing the silver samurai who is deathstrikes father... it would totally justify her become deathstrike in x2...

I'd also like to see a sequel pick up after X-Men 3. Sabertooth could lead Wolverine away from the X-Mansion (leaving a potential X-Men film to exist without Wolverine's presence or, at least, with very little of his presence) and to Japan, tying together Sabertooth's evolution from X-Men Origins to the first X-Men film.

From there, either after fighting with or while tracking Sabertooth, Wolverine could become embroiled in some Japanese antics, maybe involving Omega Red. I would like to see Deadpool return, as fully-fledged Deadpool, and for him and Sabertooth to hint to Wolverine about his forgotten past a bit.

Could be good, I don't like the idea of another film set before X-Men 1 thought, mainly because Origins seems to lead nicely into that film where it ended off.

obviously it's gonna be in japan, so silver samurai should be in there. but it'd be kinda nice if omega red was there too. maybe like the last guy he fights.

but, it would be interesting if they made wolverine 2 take place after x3.

but than again they could even make a movie inbetween x-men 1 & 2, where he's trying to find the secrets to his past, and when he goes to where xavier sends him @ the end of x1 he accidentally releases omega red, and he has to save some town from him or something.

hmm, also, if the next 1 is like the japan saga maybe a subplot could be deadpool tracking him down and following him to japan for revenge for... well, you know what. and since it would be japan maybe they wouldn't mind actually giving him a ninja costume!!! but the main villain should still prolly be silver samurai.

idk, i'm just brainstorming a lil i guess.

It could easily begin in Japan and go anywhere from there. There's no reason it would have to stay there.

sounds good, maybe throw in bishop and cable, with a little mister sinister and the creation of archangel and maybe dark beast, and a the return of nightcrawler(maybe just assist in the final battle) and gambit (maybe just in final battle, but in uniform as an xman.) we're good:woot:.
oh and the brother hood teaming up with the xmen against the ultimate threat apocalypse

sauronthegreat you speak the truth i always found it weird that ratner had things end but really he didn't

did cyclops die? you never see it or find his body

did Xavier die? no the end credit scene says otherwise

the cure wasn't permanent shown at end of film with magneto- so anyone who took it willingly or forceful will be back to mutant form in no time

if jean can come back once she can come back again she is a level 5 mutant wolverine cant kill her for good.

does anyone else think it would be a cool idea to go the Ultimate series route ,with creating the sentinels and tracking down all the mutants containing them or killing them.(kind of like the new terminator film is doing with skynet sending machines to get human prisoners it would just go after mutants)

It would set the bar really high with the war between the 2 races and escalate the violence and tension.Them taking the first shot like magneto predicted the humans would and sending machines after the mutants would not be out of character for the government. Who in reality want to rid the world of the mutant race.

I completely agree
I always thought that the Genosha and Sentinels story would fit perfectly for a film. And what a better way conclude the franchise and Magneto's saga for a human and mutant war. My idea was that the government, knowing that mutants would regain their power, to deliberately give Magneto his own land to govern, and present that to the public as redemption for 'the cure'. While mutants from all over the world go to their promised land, or Genosha, the humans in secret start the Sentenel project, as a means to ensure their own safety, but also to exterminate all the mutants in Genosha.
This story would not only answer and explain all that was left unfinished with the last film, but would also conclude some things like... Magneto realising on his path to war and conflict, was put in the same situation he was as a child, in concentration camps (as the first film began) where Genosha will represent that camp; Xavier returning as a leader of the X-Men; Rogue realizing who she really is and officially becoming a memeber of the team; and Cyclops returning!

I think that a Wolverine sequel will onlyensure one thing: that X-Men as a franchise will never continue after the third film. There will be some smaller projects, like Magneto, First Calss, even Xavier, or Storm... or why not have a Kitty film... that would be really fun and cheap...

Technically, didn't Three Mile Island in this movie stand-in as Genosha? I don't know maybe it was me, but I have a feeling that for some of those kids that they weren't kidnapped but offered a chance of a lifetime, they took it, only to realize when they got there that it was all a lie and they would be experimented on.

Genosha though would work for a fourth movie but it doesn't seem like it's going to happen. So, I guess bring on "First Class" even though they can't fight Magneto because he was in movie 1, so the only people left that they can fight is Mr. Sinister, Apocalypse, Hellfire Club, Mutant Liberation Front, and Friends of Humanity.
