The Sopranos Final Nine

Its funny I remember very vividly a flashback in season two with tony and his father Johnny boy telling tony as a small child Never to gamble.

Tony's dad cut off a guys finger that didn't pay up on a gambling debt, and Tony snuck in and saw and got caught by his dad. His dad tells him to never gamble.

Is that really a necessary way to refer to her?

Awww did I hurt your wittle feewings??

Yeah, she treats AJ like ****, is a loud mouthed *****, and just up and left him inexplicably. She deserves more respect. :whatever:

Have you ever watched the show and heard how they refer to women a lot?

She was defintely into him JUST for the money....it was quite obvious when she broke up with him

There is a difference between a television show's dialogue and being mysoginistic in real life.

Oh come on! Quit being so holier-than-thou. I bet you're one of those types of people that wanted Imus's head on a stake. :whatever:

No, it all comes down to context. Imus is a shock jock, therefore his comments, in that context are somewhat acceptable. You are a poster on an internet message board that is occupied by children. Calling someone a "Cuban Cooch" in that context is not acceptable.

Oh get off it. I've heard far worse on these boards and so have you and you know it.

And HELLO MCFLY! This thread is about The ****ing Sopranos, a show that is rated MA which is not intended for audiences below the age of 18.

It isn't like I am talking about Mother ****ing Teresa here.

By the way, you're derailing this thread, which also is not acceptable.

Fellas please;

As far as the Sopranos is concerned, i've watched every ep this season, and it looks as though David Chase hasn't leant a damn thing about all the complaints about the last few seasons. Unless something ****ing incredible happens in the next 4 eps, i see this show ending on the lowest note possible. :csad:

Last nights episode was great, probably the best of the season. I really like how the show is ending. I can see a big showdown between Paulie and Chrisy happening soon.

Holy crap....
I can't believe the way Chris just blasted the dude right in the head, just when you think he's softening and seemingly wanting out

Hmm, well, the spoilers I read have been debunked by this episode, which is strange as they got last weeks episode exact. Chris killed a known associate in cold blood, while drunk and leaving his finger prints all over everything. There is no way Chris won't get pinched for this.

Are you kidding? The show is building momentum and picking up. You cannot watch the show The Sopranos expecting non-stop whackings or whatever you want. The subtlety of Chase's writing is what makes the show brilliant. They are building things up perfectly.

The show has never been about people getting whacked episode to episode....which is why I never understand when people have these complaints. The show has always been about Family, and Loyalty.

It seems like the show has recently picked up a younger audience (18-25) who watch it expecting a weekly dose of Scarface. The show has never been that, it never will be that. In fact, it is probably one of the most real depictions of the mob to date. New York would not start war with New Jersey over Phil's ego because it would be bad for business. Tony isn't going to just start whacking made men because even if you are the boss, that simply is something that is not done. The show is all about character development and drama which is often subtle. It is not an action show like people seem to think. People always say "Why isn't it good like in Seasons 1-5?" but even then, there was maybe a 10 person body count a season and 8 of them were inconsequential, minor characters.

No i'm not kidding....far from it.

And no i don't want a whacking, left and right, every ep. There's a thin line between subtlety and and just down right boring. There are 4 eps left, and this show is offering the viewers nothing new or memorable to what could have been one of the greatest tv shows in televison history.

On a sidenote it was voted #15 greatest show of all time

by whom AICN? IMDB? but anyways another episdoe when you think something huge will happen because of the previous episode but nothing really happens.

Huge things ARE happening. AJ going into the family business (to an extent) is huge. Christopher suggesting he would turn rat and then killing a known associate while leaving evidence all over the place is huge!

Yeah, but will these subplots actually lead anywhere? Bobby left a huge amount of evidence included the murder weapon at the scene of his crime earlier in the season and nothing has come of that. I highly doubt anything will come of AJ's highjinks with the low rent bookies at that fraternity. The show throws in plot points that a better show would follow up on, but the writers care more about showing how mundane life actually is that following up on interesting plot points. What would have been good last week is Christopher actually kicking Paulie's ass or actually going to the FBI to turn rat, what will come of it, nothing.

Don't be so sure. As for Bobby...there is no reason to think a Mobster from New Jersey would go to Canada and whack someone. There is no point in following up. The Bobby kill was simply a way of Tony getting his point across. I think this episode may very well be a pivotal turning point.

Wouldn't Canadian police/mounties investigate the murder? Bobby left the gun with his fingerprints on it less than 20 feet from the crime scene. Do Canadians just not care when people are murdered in their country? Is that what the Sopranos are trying to say, only murders in New Jersey matter.

Watch the episode again...I believe this was brought up on another board....He was wearing latex gloves

No, but they would have no reason to investigate Bobby. IDing fingerprints isn't really like an episode of CSI. There is no big database where you punch it into a computer and suddenly a picture of the killer pops up. There are tens of thousands of possbile matches for each finger print pulled. What motivation from the investigator's view would a New Jersey mobster have to kill a random Canadian?

Im mad, I get to anxious about each upcoming episode and I accidentally read some spoilers......next weeks episode sounds unbelievable

What a great ep tonight

Anyone know the name of the chick that Tony slept with? I feel like I know her, but forget her name :o
