That same "Sam's Review" guy from the Tobey v Andrew thread also did a review for TSSM.

Even though I agree with his opinion about Tobey being better then Andrew...I must say I don't really care for that guy. He just comes off as obnoxious to me, the way he said that anybody who prefers Andrew doesn't 'get' Spider-Man...I mean who is he?

Stan Lee?

I'm sorry but even if I don't agree with your opinion, you are still entitled to it, and I have no more right to say you don't get the character then you do to say I don't get the character.

These are COMIC BOOK characters, there is more then one way to interpret them, to re-imagine them, it's not like a novel where the character is set in stone. Comic books are constantly being re-written, re-interpreted with each new writer who comes on board...there is NO 'One Way' to portray Peter Parker.

(How many times has the Joker been reimagined? Batman? Superman? Lex Luthor? etc etc) Sure we all have our favorite interpretations, as well as interpretations we don't like...but every interpretation is valid as the next.

I guess I just don't like this mentality of having to tear down one interpretation and the fans who like that interpretation...in order to praise the next. I mean I prefer Keatons Batman over Bales...but I don't go around trashing Bale and the fans that think he is the best Batman.

So I don't get why Spidey fans have to hate on each other so much.

Just my opinion.

Now this show can get a season 3 with the Marvel/Sony deal.

I'm sure all the people involved are now scattered and on other projects... I wouldn't want a new creative team on it... it'll never be the same as it was before, and I'd rather go with nothing than a possibly lame attempt to resurrect the show without the original crew or even a PART of the crew...

Agreed. I think too late to bring show back now but would be so great if they could.

If they did for some reason, you can bet Josh Keaton would jump back on the voice acting train.

I wasn't attempting to resurrect the 'Tobey vs Andrew' debate into this thread. This is the thread for TSSM. I didn't necessarily agree with Sam's take on that topic however his review of TSSM was spot on. He makes several good points, however several times in his review he bashes other Spidey related things and imo that's not good on the part of a reviewer. It's ok to make comparisons, I understand, but you don't need to rip apart something in order to try and make your point and prop something else up. If something is good, in this case TSSM, it is fully capable to stand on its own, by its own merits.

I agree with you about interpretations. All these movies and shows are adaptations of the source material and they all have validity in that regard. However, it's worth pointing out that certain adaptations are better than others. IMO, there's a clear difference between a successful adaptation--one that makes certain changes but does so for the benefit of the story or the characters, against an adaptation that is contrived. One that makes changes for the sake of making changes. Quality can be measured in this manner, imo and so the quantity of each adaptation's validity can be brought into question.

I'm sure all the people involved are now scattered and on other projects... I would have to agree. If they were to bring back the show in whatever medium that would be, a continuation with dvd releases, more tv episodes or even an animated feature, I'd want the entire main ensemble, cast and crew, to return or it wouldn't be the same. Though it's worth mentioning that both Weisman, Cook and the majority of the cast have expressed their desire to return to working on TSSM.

That's how I feel when I see a lot of hardcore and militant fans of Spider-man TAS that praise the show to such a level that they automatically look down on any other Spider-man show. It's rather limiting to put a show up on a pedestal and expect all other shows in the same genre to imitate it rather than do their own thing. It annoys me so much when some people praise one version to the point of blindly criticizing all the other creative versions (especially when those other works have their own strengths).

There's a train?! lol. No, but seriously, Josh is a very busy voice actor. Since TSSM he's done probably over 50 different voice roles in tv shows, movies and video games.

He even recorded voice work as Spidey in the Avengers cartoon until the producers axed his work and replaced him with Drake Bell.

I try to do my best when reviewing something to not bring up other works as a means to raise or put down whatever it is that I'm talking about. IMO, it's in bad taste and isn't an effective tool for making reviews. So yeah, when I do see that being used, it's kinda an eye-roll for me.

He also did the voice of Green Lantern in the recent GL cartoon.

Huh, I always assumed he stopped after Spectacular...slow me.

Why would he stop? Josh has been doing voice work since the 1990's which is a long time prior to TSSM and he obviously is continuing that work after the show. It's how he makes a living, he excels in this field and from what I gather in his interviews, he really enjoys what he does. Outside of the unexpected, it makes no sense for him to stop.

Found this pretty neat fanmade trailer for SM3 using various TSSM clips.

I just thought people on the forums would enjoy my channel ):

Ok, there's nothing wrong with that but there's no need to spam the boards with the same post. I'll check out your channel soon.

Still my favorite Marvel TV Show and my favorite adaptation of Spidey. Weisman and Co. did a terrific job bring Spidey into the 21st century. In terms of animated series, it is only behind Batman The Animated Series and Gargoyles (another Weisman show). Still miss this show to this day!

Nah man, the guys at the animation department are putting a lot of effort on their current animation projects, don't think they want a show that distracts.

Welcome to the boards, Murdock and you have great taste in animated shows :cwink:

@UltimateWebhead: Thank you for welcoming me! And I believe you have great taste too! Who was your favorite villain on the show and your favorite episode? Btw, did everyone hear about Weisman's new Kickstarter? It's for an audioplay for his novel Rain Of The Ghosts. Josh Keaton (Spidey), Vanessa Marshall (MJ), Steve Blum (Goblin), etc. star in it. Plus, you can even meet them. I recommend it because Weisman could use some help. Take a look and spread the word! https://www.kickstarter.com/project...the-ghosts-full-cast-audioplay?ref=nav_search

Oh, and your avatar is sick! Loved Black Cat on the show.

I loved Doctor Octopus on this show. Especially when he was pretending like he recovered in rehab, I actually believed it for a second. Then when it was revealed he was still behind the Sinister Six and everything I was like "Ho-ly-****"

My favorite villain would be either Green Goblin or Doc Ock. GG is my #1 fav villain from the Spidey mythos and Ock is my #2, which I would say that ranking is consistent within TSSM. I had a lot of fun watching both of them and I'm so glad they were properly represented here as opposed to some other iterations.

Gangland is my favorite episode but here's my top five:

1. Gangland
2. Uncertainty Principle
3. The Invisible Hand (I don't think this episode gets enough credit)
4. Shear Strength
5. First Steps

Agreed. GG is my favorite villain in both the mythos and the show. But, I love this version of Tombstone a lot so he is definitely up there. Basically, I love all of the villains on the show!

My top 5 favorite episodes are:

1. Final Curtain
2. Intervention
3. Shear Strength
4. Gangland
5. Identity Crisis

But sometimes my mind changes. Catalysts may be my favorite episode one day and other days, it may be Reinforcements, and another my favorite may be Survival of The Fittest. There was never any bad episode in the show.
