The Spirit Action Figures!

Ouch. If only it didn't come from the boards' resident whiner regarding others' attempt to have a broad, objective discussion about something, rather than just falling in line with YOUR personal views... it just might have counted for something. Unfortunately, your posts about this subject within a subject contain no substance. Your reputation is that of someone who cannot accept that others may not agree with them.

You really don't want to debate the topic of debating, because your public credibility is zero.

Your posts, on the subject of others' having the right to openly voice their opinion ,when you adolescently recieve it as a personal attack every time someone disagrees with you are everywhere, for everyone to read... because you follow around every person who does not share your opinion and whine and gripe like a child about their OPINION.

Your credibility is crap.

So, if you want to 'discuss' the Spirit, great.

Learn to accept others' opinions.

As of now, though, your contribution is:

And, if you think a glimpse of 1/8th of a woman's breast is nudity, you really need to learn more than just social interaction.

She would be showing more if she were in a bikini.

So, that's clearly not what the MPAA judged as brief nudity.

But, again... nice try.

Anyhow, I've let all the leg-humping from others' distract me.

ManBat, back on the subject of variants, do you think that there really won't be a variant? With the possibility of being blue?

I know the quick retort had to be "He wears black!", so I don't fault you for that instant answer, but knowing the marketability of variant figures, and knowing the fanbase of the character would love to see the iconic costume... are you completely convinced that there won't be any variants?

Octopus in Heinrich Himmler gear could be a popular Toys R Us item. :hehe:

Hmmm? Will you look at that? Even more waste of space filled with nonsensical group of words that cannot express a rational thought!! Oh well....

Anyway, no, there will more than likely not be a variant blue Spirit action figure from the line of the film's toys. The X-Men movie toys didn't have yellow-spandex dressed Wolverine with a mask, no movie Daredevil variant wearing spandex with the DD symbol in center of chest, and there were no blue/grey spandex- wearing Batman toys from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

Maybe DC Direct or McFarlane Toys will do a comic version figure.

Agree with you on the Eisner interests in sexy women, and your argument on the context of his age, but this: "If Frank Miller charged in with a Spirit who was not a detective, whose main romantic interest was not Police Commissioner Dolan's daughter, named Ellen Dolan, my reaction would have been, "This is not the Spirit" doesn't work.

You see, let's apply the same measurements to Batman.

We keep Batman as a detective, who fights the crime in a Batsuit, and is kinda friends with Commissioner Gordon, lives in Gotham City, under the Bruce Wayne billionaire persona, and likes caves.

Everything is checking.

But we put him dropping wisecracks while fighting; in shiny garments with nipples; and we keep Gordon as far as possible from his comic book counterpart, and leave the villain parts to famous actors who play them in extreme stylized acting, like a caricature.

Well, it can be a suckcess, but it will get the worst fame possible, 'cause if one knows Batman, one will despise this cheap trick. Batman is dark, story goes through some extreme views, etc.

The characters are much more than a simple list of basics to be covered. They demand a very careful reconstruction of their features in order to make it convincing. And this is not happening if a director, like Schumacher, is putting his odd views to it.

And it won't do also if Miller is putting his odd views to it, in the case of The Spirit. You can check the basics. But all the rest is Miller's regalia.

Joel Schumacher had Batman acting out of character and dressing out of character. Frank Miller is not having The Spirit acting out of character and dressing out of character. You might feel Miller is indeed having The Spirit act out of character and dress out of character, but again this is just where you and I differ. And no amount of back and forth arguing on our part is going to change the others stance.

I never wanted to... how did you put it? "change the others stance"; and I'm not arguing, because that's not possible when the parts involved don't want to discuss the points.

That's clear and I'm aware of it. :cwink:

But you may know that some people like to think, and may even want to see some wrong views detailed against.

For instance, this sentence "Frank Miller is not having The Spirit acting out of character and dressing out of character", obviously doesn't need further comment, as it is quite revealing in itself.

And it's ok to differ. We agree on the merits of Miller's previous works, undoubtedly.

Well, it's not spandex, but...

Haha, then maybe there will be a blue panted variation Spirit figure with some goofy giant accessories on it. A Toys R Us or Wallmart item or something. I doubt it but you never know.

I agree. If the figure resembles Eisner's work, it ought to be mockable, laughable, and full of dismissive exaggeration.

A potential 'variant' blue Spirit figure should have goofy giant accessories like a severed head, a cinderblock and a giant wrench... and a toilet! "Come on... toilets are always funny!"

Or maybe plastic cats. 1/2 inch solid plastic cats always make for exciting toys.

An oversized, Loony Tunes wrench to beat an opponent with... who would actually think to put something like that in a movie? Makes for a great accessory for a potential variant figure.

I guess the only way that I would purchase one of these, is if I intended to repaint him to the correct colors.

That fat guy looks like Simon Cowell's bodyguard from the X-Factor.

I don't agree with that statement. I was referring to the goofy giant toy accessories that are not in the film but are on that blue Batman film variant toy, and how a blue Spirit film variant would likely have something like that. I was not dissing Eisner's work.

Um... how about oversized wrench, toilet, and severed head accessories? They're in the movie.

And they already are accessories, except the toilet! The Octopus comes with the massive wrench and Pathos comes with the severed head accessories!

And Denny gets to come with... plastic cats? :wow:

The title character drew the short straw when it comes to interesting 'extras'. lol

Is it Pathos or Phobos? Where the heck am I thinking of the name Phobos from?
