The Spirit Action Figures!

I know... nothing's as laughable as Eisner's designs, ideas, and stories.

Thank God for Frank Miller.

Heh,heh!! Geeze, IDDP, loosen up, dude!! Where's your sense of humor? I was laughing, not at the figure's visual design but at how small and meek it is compared to the film figure's bigger and more detailed design. Besides, you asked for an Eisner figure, so don't get mad at me or Man-Bat.:yay:

At least you've finally stopped pretending you're Eisner fans. The 'funny' looking figure actually looks like Eisner's work, while the 'really great' Miller one doesn't.

I am an Eisner fan. I am also a fan of how contemporary the man was. I think the film figure represents that contemporary feel better than the classic one.

Just surprised you were willing to let go of Miller's **** long enough to type this.

Touche.:woot:

(**** can be a LOT of things. Take your pick...

...your rude attitude, for one!!

Yes, 'rude' is the four letter word!

There's actually not a prize, tho. I'm too cheap.

I do like the film figures. Well some of them.

Like I said before.

I would have initially mentioned my desire for an Ebony with taxi cab set, but I've moved on to preparing my defense of PIEFACE, Hal Jordan's stereotypically Asian/Alaskan sidekick with a degrading name, now that DC has mentioned a Green Lantern film. Time for the hyper sensitive, comic fan equivelants of Al Sharpton to shift their protesting focus on that racist old Gil Kane. :hehe:

Granny always said "Pick your battles". :oldrazz:

Personally, i don't see why IDrawDeadPeople should be criticized for suggesting there be a blue suit variant. I mean, why not? Variants kick ass. And there's definitely money in making a blue suit variant, too. Don't most of these quality toys get variants anyway?

The tantrums that happen in regard to my posts are because I don't just simply blindly accept Miller's "improvements".

Me wanting a blue variant means I do not accept the black suit.

But, I should accept the black suit, because they want me to. :oldrazz:

My consistent sin is that I actually like Eisner better than Miller and am naive enough to believe that he actually knew how to design and handle his own creation better than a mono-thinking novice filmmaker trying to pay homage.

What do you mean about the cats, Mego? Are you kidding?!?!?! :wow:

They are a Frank Miller 'improvement' to Eisner's worthless interpretation of the Spirit, and are therefore a brilliant, necessary addition to the world of the Spirit.

It's vital they are a part of the merchandising aspects of this film, since they are Miller's idea.

If they were Eisner's creation, we wouldn't have to worry... they wouldn't be in the film... let alone in the merchandising.

Rogue Trooper told me, himself... all of the changes are for the sake of making audiences actually like Einser's crappy story.

If Jesu... I mean Miller... thinks cats vastly improve Eisner's garbage... then, believe Rogue Trooper - cats are a VITAL addition.

I hope they sell the cats seperately, so I can buy multiple figures.

Yeah, that's what I thought...

The REAL problem in all the discussions is Miller's unwillingness to admit he doesn't care about Eisner's views for this movie, and that he simply took some of the visuals and some of the principles and made his stuff out of it.

That would make things a lot easier and much more real. "That's my very personal take on the characters that once appeared in stories invented by Will Eisner".

Bingo!

yea, haha. I've been lurking around here for sometime. I hear ya. And i agree with basically all you've said. And mind you, i love Frank Miller and i love Will Eisner, and i love the Spirit, but the new trailer made me cringe.

but enough, 5 bucks that when they make a blue suit variant, it'll look more badass than the black suit.

He said 'badass', not 'Hot Topic'.

But, I see where you're coming from. I used to think black was automatically hardcore when I was 14, too.

Someday, when you're older, your color spectrum might broaden, a little, too.

...hmmmm? I don't know about that. Nothing screams "badass" more than the color black.

And The Spirit is not about being, hurrrm, "badass".

The catching thing is that Denny Colt is many times pathetic. Tied, he implores to a woman to let him go, he falls down on creaky floors, people knock him by his back, etc.

"Badass" is Batman. Obsessed, brutal, dressed in black.

But regular moviegoers in recent years want their every character to be a Badass chimp. :oldrazz:

to IDDP:

I'm much, much older than 14, first of all. Also, being an artist myself, I have a quite a broad color spectrum, being an expert in the use of watercolors and air brush. Probably much broader than yours. And I wouldn't know that much about Hot Topic fashion since I don't shop there particularly. Black is badass. Nuff said.:oldrazz:

...more badass compared to blue, that's all I meant. Not the character in particular.

Black is a cliché. Badass is whatever.

Gee, Rorschach is badass and is not dressed in black.

You can be Michelangelo, but that's not showing in opinions recently.

...again, if you missed my previous post responding to you, I meant more badass "looking" compared to blue. I did not mean the essence or the personality of the character. Zorro is dressed in black. He is suave. Not badass. Hope that helps.:cwink:

Not much help, trooper.

Because what we can get from your own last posts is what I just happened to say: black as "badass" is a cliché.

No. A sham is your elementary school education, as seen by your lack of understanding. Tell them you want your money back.:oldrazz:

Are you always that frightened when confronted with your utter lack of arguments or was that a sudden lapse?

Time is too precious to go in circles with you on an argument you don't really want to understand, even though I'm very much on spot.:cwink:

EDIT

There you go Professor Merc. Fixed. Now it's your turn to fix your comprehensive skills.:woot:

Yes, you should be painting, not writing. Your writing is a waste of time, indeed. :woot:

Hope your - how would I name it? - "art" is a lil' better.:oldrazz:

(Sighs). Strictly for you, here goes:

Crimson Mist stated that a blue Spirit figure would be more "badass". I responded that, basically, I thought he "looked" more badass in black. You, Merc, said that The Spirit is not about "being" badass. "Looking" and "being" are two different things. Simple as that.:yay:

Both Zorro and The Shadow are dressed in black. The difference; The Shadow is a badass in a Man Without Name-type of way by having a no-nonsense attitude in killing criminals, while Zorro, though garbed in black he looks badass, he is not a badass as he is more about doing what's right and being romantic ala Robin Hood. The Zorro analogy is how I see Miller's black dressed Spirit.

So, as written by Eisner, Denny Colt can wear blue, and still be 'badass' enough to attract a young Frank Miller with his comic book 'manliness'.

Yet, under the 'gifted' writing stylings of said Frank Miller, we actually require the character to wear visual aids that symbolize his 'badassery'?

Thanks for at least proving one of our other points, if not conceding that black as "tough" is cliche. So, black = tough, but at least we now ALL agree that Miller can't write his way out of a paper bag without resorting to cliches.

Oh, and the thing about saying you're older than you are is... cute... but your consistency in being "frightened when confronted with your utter lack of arguments" gives it away. Adults can accept the opinions of others without chasing them around saying "No! You're wrong!"

But, your valiant effort to say you're a man was endearing. Don't be in a rush to become an adult too fast. Take advantage of those amazing formative years, where everything seems to go your way. It's when you get old, and realize that your mom lied to you, and the world doesn't actually revolve around you, that you start to grasp that other people can actually not have to agree with you. Without throwing a tantrum.

What did I say? Black is a cliché of "badass", as even you admitted, mentioning Zorro in opposition.

Conclusion: a blue Spirit could be or look more "badass", because the colour is way beyond the point. :cwink:

Hey! I just said that! Idea pilferer!
