Damn, I was getting pretty excited about that until I saw the cheapest one is $125. I love IT, but I dunno if I love it that much.

IT is my second favorite King novel right after The Stand, but $125? I dont know... I'll need to see how awesome this edition really is before even considering it.

Yeah, I'll need to see some of that art first.

Cover look good, but I still need more proof of awesome.

Honestly guys, go look at the return value for all the prior Cemetary Dance special edition releases.

Within 5 years they all double in value or more.
This is like buying that special action figurine, you keep it in its packaging, put it somewhere safe and when the time is right profit.

Just go look on Ebay for quick reference, or the StephenKing message boards.

You wouldn't want to be getting these bad boys all creased up.

This isn't a special edition of Dreamcatcher, it's the 25th anniversary edition of one of Kings most important books. They are probably all pre-ordered by now, even the most expensive ones.

If I had the money I'd be all over this, and if you're a sound investor and have the money do what I can't and get one of these bad boys!!!

OK, I'll give The Drawing of the Three a shot one day, but as far now I think I'll get some more of his other works before tacking the Dark Tower series. I'm interested to read either The Shining, 'Salem's Lot and Carrie next.

Dark tower starts to lose it's luster around the third book. Wolves of the Calla (the 5th one I believe) was the last good one, the last few of them aren't really even worth reading. The story starts to go in some really really weird directions towards the end.

The last book switched randomly between being really good and fairly bad. Though oddly, I think I'm one of the few people who liked the full ending.

[blackout] The whole "self insert that wasn't in the series at all just appears and will eventually erase the big bad wiht a pen" thing was ****ing dumb and I put the books down at that point for a looooong time. The ending made me feel like reading the entire series was a waste fo time, too [/blackout]

I didn't mind King's self insertions. What bothered me was the way he used himself as an excuse to throw random fixes into the story. Whenever he wrote himself into a corner, he just put an item into the story and said "the author did it."

yeah, pretty much. Those last few books got really reeally weird and were full of deus ex's.

Have any of you read On Writing by King? It's basically an autobiog, but it's got some parts that explain his writing process.

He says he basically starts with a sentence or a predicament and it takes a route of it's own. For Cujo he simply asked "what would a lady do if her and her kid were trapped in a car with a ravin dog outside", etc etc.

I was introduced to the Dark Tower by the internet. It was a lot of the talk around Mordred's conception, the out-of-the-left-field character in Song of Susannah, and the talk of how awful it all was that got me to read the series.

I enjoyed it all the way though. I will say that I felt the Callas were too...tame, or mundane, in comparison to some of the other locales in Mid-World. Danville could've used more foreshadowing for those who hadn't read Insomnia, and the deal with Jack Sawyer should have been dealt with or touched on.

I would argue Wizard & Glass was the last good one, but yeah, what happened to that series? Wizard is some of the best stuff King's ever written--absolutely just excellent--and then he's throwing in Salem's Lot and annoying townie characters (I spent half the book hoping Flagg would show up and just kill all of them--what happened to the great elderly characters from Waste Lands?) and lightsabers and snitches, and it does not work. At all.

I've been on a reading binge here lately, especially since I have been traveling often.

I've read most of King's books already: All of the Dark Tower, Talisman, Black House, Thinner, Desperation, 'Salem's Lot, Tom Gordon, Bag of Bones, Dreamcatcher, Running Man, Cell.

I just recently finished Firestarter, Carrie and Pet Semetary. I am finally working on The Stand (the complete and unedited). I think afterwards I'll try for Misery and maybe start on some of his new ones.

Which would any of you suggest of his new ones? I can borrow Duma Key and I'd like to eventually read Under the Dome.

Under the Dome was excellent. I know it looks huge and daunting, but it read really fast. Best in a while. :)

I think I've recommended Duma Key to someone every other page in this thread lol.

I started Just After Sunset but I'm reading like 5 diff books right now so I'm taking the stories slow, reading one every few days. Loved The Gingerbread Girl.

Finished Duma a couple of weeks ago, really was something special.

Reading Dreamcatcher right now... has King ever mentioned the truth about the "PENNYWISE LIVES" sign? I wonder if someday he'll resurrect It, or if there was nothing more to the sign. I kept thinking what It would've thought of Mr. Gray, if anything.

I just watched Misery tonight, based off of a Stephen King book. That is one crazy movie! I couldn't believe the true "misery" that one injured writer had to go through at the hands of a psychotic woman. It was pretty good, though...

Read the book, then you will feel even worse for Mr. Sheldon.

I just ordered the entire Dark Tower series plus the first five comics for only $81, all hardcover. Prit-tay, prit-tay... pretty good.

Just finished Under the Dome (late to the party, I know). Not bad, definitely more engaging than some of his other, longer novels.

Also really liked the
symbol from 'It' showing up again on the back of the...dome projector? Whatever that was.

Had my first audio book experience with Full Dark, No Stars.
Excellent stories, quite grim and gritty and it was great to hear them acted out, an awesome way to fall asleep.

I decided to start reading Cell for my summer break. For some reason I can never finish it. This time I will.

Just started rose madder on audio, wow, sucks to be rose.

Sure does. I liked that one, though I've had a hard time convincing myself to reread it.

Guys, read Insomnia. One of his best novels, imo.

^^
If you don't want to commit to rereading it I highly suggest listening to newest recording of it, both the lady and Stephen King do a wonderful job and it becomes a whole different experience.
