If I'd known it tied in to other books, I'd have asked for a list of King novels to read before diving in to Dark Tower. Of course, I probably would've been royally pissed that those other novels seemed irrelevant while I was reading Gunslinger through Waste Lands.

Here is Hodder & Stoughton's press release for Full Dark, No Stars

STEPHEN KING HAS MAJOR DARKNESS IN MIND FOR 2010 UNDER THE DOME, published in November 2009, reached more readers then any other King hardback novel published in the UK in the last decade.

Its publication, with a winning marketing campaign, demands a worthy successor for 2010, and Hodder & Stoughton are delighted to announce the acquisition from US agent, Chuck Verrill, of FULL DARK, NO STARS.

The November publication month that has proved so successful for UNDER THE DOME and JUST AFTER SUNSET will again provide a perfect position to launch this volume of four all-new novellas for Christmas 2010.

These darkly thrilling stories are all linked by the theme of retribution, and are a showcase for the power of King’s inimitable imagination – satisfying established readers whilst enticing new ones. Visceral, immediate and featuring just a few characters, this is the other side of King’s writing; contrasting intimate portraits after the huge canvas that was UNDER THE DOME.

I started reading The Dark Tower series not too long ago. I'm on the third book. The story just seems to keep getting better as you progress. How far along are you in The Gunslinger?

Lol sorry been gone for a while. Ive been slacking for real and Ive got about 40 pages left give or take. I just read the whole "coming of age" part this morning and Wow!! I knew what was coming soon as he brought out his hawk and damn I gotta say I didnt expect to be on the edge of my seat like that at all!

Ive also started reading Dreamcatcher and so far its great. Ive never really read much King but seen most of the adaptations and Ive gotta say Im getting more and more interested by the day in the guy. I used to think his stuff was boring and thought Dean Koontz was alot better of a writer but just the way King developes his characters and the intricacies of the plot are outstanding. The only Koontz book Ive read that I believe even measures up to be compared to Kings work is From The Corner of His Eye which is an absolutely amazing read

Hahahaha Koontz has some good books but some are just duuuuumb ie Tick Tock. Believe me youll read anything in jail

Just finished Gunslinger this morning. Gonna start Drawing of The Three tonite or tomorrow. Plus Im excited I just found an old hardback of IT that Ive had since I was like 15 and just never read. Yay! Ive heard its alot different than the miniseries and goes more in depth into Pennywise or Bob Gray. Cant wait to check it out

Drawing of the Three is sooo damn good. You're in for a treat.

If I ever get caught up with the newer stuff (unlikely as fast as Steve writes anymore) I want to reread It. I actually think the miniseries hold up pretty well but man I'd love a remake with better production value. HBO or Showtime or something would be aces.

I know, keep dreaming.:yay:

So how much do they differ IT and the mini-series. I read in wikipedia it explains alot more about what Pennywise actually is and that he actually lived under Derry for millions of years or something.

Just started Drawing of the Three this morning. Didnt get to far but Rolands battle with the Lobstrosity from The Mist was great. Im just like damn he needs his fingers back!!! Lol

K goins a lil slow with Drawing of The Three I'm like 100 pages in and WOW it really does pick up after Gunslinger huh?!? Im loving it and cant wait till I get the time to sit down and read for a few hours. Im kinda a slow reader and hafta really absorb everything so I could probably finish it in a day but it'd take literally like all day lol But nevertheless Im loving it so far and cant wait till all is said and done and I can get on to my next literary obsession

You know what I find funny? The Gunslinger is about only about 200 pages. Drawing of the Three, Wastelands, and Wizard & Glass (which I'm about half-way through right now) are at least twice that length, but I found myself not caring. Hell, I kinda breezed through the first half of Wastelands because I was so interested in what was going on with a particular character.

Eh.. I thought drawing was reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally slow for me. :/

The Lady of Shadows portion of Drawing was what moved slowly for me. I just felt like saying "Okay, King. We get it. She's [blackout]insane[/blackout]." I mean, good god. And I know the weird dialogue was intentional, but that didn't make [blackout]the Detta personality[/blackout] any less annoying.

The thing is... I can't remember who he drew first.. I think it was Eddie?

I remember just getting geared up with Eddie and they switched it up to Detta, and man.. that was a tough time for me.. felt like it took me forever to get through.

Yeah, it was Eddie first, then Detta. I wonder if anyone liked that portion. I mean, [blackout]Susannah[/blackout] turns out to be great later, but that portion of Drawing was just... trying.

Sorry, Eklypze. But maybe you'll enjoy it more than we did.

She was just such a *****...
It was difficult :P

In all probability Ill like it. Im still with Eddie in customs. Or hes just been released either one. Plan on catching up quite a bit tonite after I watch the season finale of Big Love. Ive read plenty of books that were boring before though hell Star Wars The New Jedi Order is 19 individual novels which only about 65% of which are engrossing with the rest being mediocre to just bleh and I got through them. Im just weird with books sometimes though, Ive been known to read half a book lay it down and not pick it back up for a month and then breeze through like the next 3. Thats what I did with the True Blood books cuz that damn 5th one was booorring lol but after I got through it I read the next 4 in less than a week lol

Hemingford Home...wasn't that a place in The Stand where Freemantle lived at? The name sounds familiar from another of King's stories.

Indeed. Abigail Freemantle lived there. And I believe Ben Hanscom lived nearby.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Cemetery Dance Publications Announces Blockade Billy by Stephen King

Includes an Authentic William "Blockade Billy" Blakely Baseball Card

BALTIMORE -- March 29, 2010 -- Cemetery Dance Publications, the world’s leading independent publisher of collectible horror and suspense books, has just announced Blockade Billy by Stephen King, an original, never-before-published novella that only the King of Horror could have dreamed up. The Cemetery Dance exclusive hardcover will ship mid-April.

"I love old-school baseball," Stephen King said, "and I also love the way people who've spent a lifetime in the game talk about the game. I tried to combine those things in a story of suspense. People have asked me for years when I was going to write a baseball story. Ask no more; this is it."

Cemetery Dance and Stephen King kept Blockade Billy under tight wraps so it could be a surprise publication for the beginning of the baseball season. Even diehard baseball fans don't know the true story of William Blakely, but in just a few weeks readers will be holding this dark tale in their own two hands.

"As a lifelong baseball fan -- and long suffering Orioles' fan -- I can't think of a better way to open the 2010 season than publishing Blockade Billy," said Cemetery Dance Publisher Richard Chizmar. "Stephen King and I have corresponded about baseball and books for almost 20 years now... So to combine the two is a dream come true for me."

Chuck Verrill, King's agent, said: "Any time a Red Sox fan, an Orioles fan, and a Yankees fan can cooperate on something, the result is bound to be fantastic."

For a very limited time only, Cemetery Dance Publications will include an authentic William "Blockade Billy" Blakely baseball card with every copy of the trade hardcover
