The Stephen King Thread

Haven't seen Timequest, but I don't see many similarities apart from the basic idea. So, in Timequest someone and goes back in time and prevents the assassin. Sounds like a speculative "what if"-story about how the world would look like if Kennedy hadn't been murdered. King's story sounds more like that someone goes back in time, starts a new life (even falling in love with a woman) and while he could prevent the assassination, I'm not sure it actually will happen in the book. I suspect that the suspense in the novel will be: can/will he do it or not? To say these stories are similar is like saying Salem's Lot and Dracula are similar because they're both about vampires

This sounds too much like "City on the Edge of Forever" for my comfort, haha.
But, knowing King through his work, I am certain that it will be far away from everyone's speculations.

King/Spielberg collaboration?

That. Is. Orgasmic.

Awesome! Maybe this can be the start of finally getting a King cinematic universe rolling. Get IT, The Stand, and The Dark Tower all going.

Dark Tower is so huge and so engrossing, that would be quite an undertaking and hard to do in a way that would give it justice. :(

Definitely... and as a huge Sword of Truth fan imagine how I feel about that too. They're my two favorite series and it really sucks that I might never see them done justice in anyway, big screen or small.

Ive just started the Dark Tower and finished the first book and just started the second. Ive read that DT is connected or atleast little easter eggs in his other books is this true if so. Are those books worth reading for the connections?

DT is my first King book I feel like a fool for never reading any of his work but I got the revised first book also just throwing it out there. But so far im loving DT its great I also ordered Cell off of amazon zombie book by King cant be bad.

This is a great idea, The Dome is perfect for a TV series.

~Thomas Jane for Barbie!!!

I love King, but admittedly I became a fan of him from watching the movie adaptations of his novels. I want to actually read a few books though, so I was checking out mainly those that haven't been made into films, and The Sun Dog sounds really intriguing! Anyone want to tell me if it's good, or have any suggestions for me?

The ending to The Sun Dog reeeeeealy freaked me out the first time I read it......that whole book of stories was good, but that one in particular was my favorite!

Thomas Jane for the major male role in the cinematic version of every King book!

Thomas Jane to play Cujo!

Thomas Jane for Frannie Goldsmith! :awesome:

Thomas Jane to play Stephen King when they make a film about his life!

LOL, Thomas Jane is awesome but I don't think he is up to all of thsoe tasks... :p

JUst finished reading Mile 81. It was short but sweet, a good read. Not sure why this didn't just make it into that last batch of short stories but I don't mind. :)

I don't think this story was written when he published his last collection. Might end up in the next one, if there will be one.

I think there will always be another one as long as King is alive. He will never quit writing even if he goes blind. He'll just dictate them. :D

Tim works for me. He is outstanding on Justified. :D

Definitely, love Justified

Funny enough, I thought Walton Goggins would be perfect for Randall Flagg.

He is creepy enough to do the job. :D
