Horror The Strangers

Every time I see the TV Spots, I can't help but laugh when that woman looks out the window, and just screams, "GO AWAYYYY!!!!"

I got a pass to see it on Thursday, well I need to go pick up the pass using *gulp* gas.

2 new reviews on RT.com (one positive, one negative). The negative one complained the film is just a cat-and-mouse film aka no plot. Well duh. It's a horror film.

Another negative on RT.com

Score is now 3-2 on RT

Another negative...3-3 now

My hopes for this film are sinking fast (yes, I actually think critics do give at least a partial inclination towards the quality of a film)

Does anyone know if this film will get an 18 or 15 release in the UK?

Oh how sad you make me. Just cause another says poor things you think the same.

Most critics don't like horror movies so its no surprise to me.

I mean there are some but not very many few they do like.

Oh get in, just checked the BBFC, and a 15 it is! I find American ratings systems outdated. Theres a huge gap nowadays between a PG-13 and an R rated film, you would think they would invent something inbetween.

What's the story on The Strangers? Just 3 people causing trouble for the couple?

The horrifying events that took place in the Hoyt family's vacation home at 1801 Clark Road on February 11, 2005, are still not entirely known.

Champagne. Rose petals. Candlelight. It was supposed to be a night of celebration for Kristen McKay (Liv Tyler) and James Hoyt (Scott Speedman). But after leaving a friend's wedding reception and returning to the house, everything had collapsed for the happy couple.

Then came a 4 a.m. knock on the door and a haunting voice.

Is Tamara here?

Writer/director Bryan Bertino explores our most universal fears in "The Strangers," a terrifying suspense thriller about a couple whose remote getaway becomes a place of terror when masked strangers invade. The confrontation forces Kristen and James to go far beyond what they thought themselves capable of if they hope to survive

I see it like this. If the movie is atleast in the 40's on RT.com I'm watching it, but if its lower, its clearly a piece of crap. Reason why I'll take a 40 is because critics do harshly judge horror movies.

That just means your a robot taking advice from another.

Don't you have a free mind of your own? Who the hell cares what a crap site say. People rely too much on what others think. What doesn't anyone have a brain in there head anymore?

Not a insult to you i'm just talking in general.

Ouch.

Listen, I know what you mean, but I've lost hope in all Hollywood made horror movies. The last horror movie I saw in theaters was Vacancy, which I enjoyed because I knew it was going to be good and I would probably like it. Now I turn to foreign movies to watch a good horror flicks.

The Strangers did catch my eye because I thought it would be alot like Vacancy, but I thought it might fall short and not scare me at all, wasting my 10 bucks.

Thats why I turn to critics when I'm not to sure, and I lower the standards for horror movies because lets face it, alot of them are trash. Thats why I said if it gets at least 40, I'll watch it friday.

I think the trick is to find a critic you agree with 90% of the time, and just follow what they say.
