Horror The Strangers

Seems like a good review but i don't see movies based on a good or bad one.

I see it if it looks good to me which it does.

I know, but it's worth posting to get a bit of hype started. So far we have part of a positive review and one entire positive review...and the latter says that the film is "so terrifying I watched the whole movie through a slit between two fingers.". That's awesome.

Well, either way I think it's a good sign for the film.

I thought you'd be stoked to hear that the first couple reviews are positive. You don't seem convinced. :oldrazz:

No i'm happy about it.

Not to be a jerk or anything but most women get scared but a lot of things that aren't funny. Like the Grudge remake or the ring remake.

But hey the good the better.

I hope this is good. I thought the trailer was creepy as hell. I just hope they don't overload it with jump scares like most horror movies now. That's the cheap way out of actually scaring your audience. :down

Wow, sounds exactly like the way I saw it last July.

Can you give us your thoughts on it? Maybe a small review? I'd really like to know the best and worst about the film...although from what I see there aren't too many bad things.

Well I'll try. I stink at this review stuff. What I'll say is what I like about the film is what I like to call the John carpenter's halloween techniques. Its non dependence on gore, but its dependence on beautiful pace, lighting, mood, and tension. It's unfortunate that my favorite scare of the movie is not only in the trailer but on the darn poster, but they've got to earn the bucks. The acting is exactly what it's supposed to be, and Scott Speedsman suprised me. I don't dislike him in other things, I just like him pretty much in this. The masked people are the scariest horror villians in a long time. It's like
where the heck are those people. Oh snap, there!

It also helped me that I went into this movie not knowing what it was about at all. I just knew it was a horror movie, and I was floored. They probably added more musical score into it since that screening, and changed a few things I heard some complaints at the end, but Like I said earlier, John Carpenter's Halloween type scares, very old school work, Not gore for gore's sake.

How do you get into a test screenings?

I was at the union square regal theater, and there were passes being given out at the front door. Same way I saw Prince Caspian on May 5th. I believe it's usually saturdays they do that, though Prince Caspian passes were being given on a Thursday. Also have to get to those screenings at least 2 1/2 hours before the showtime because they're overbooked. More tickets than seats.

Thanks for the brief rundown of your opinions. It's much appreciated! Sounds good.

Another positive review. This makes it 3-0.

It's actually briefly in this interview, he talks/reviews the movie at the beginning.

Rottentomatoes has this guy's review summarized as "Hands down the scariest movie I have ever seen. I was a mess after it was over."

Ditto. They should start coming in now, because there was a critics screen in Washington the other day. It will take time for the critics to write their review and submit them to RT.com but I expect new ones everyday from now until a couple days after release.

I'm really looking forward to this. It's been so long before a really decent horror flick came out. I want it to be good too.

Sweet... theres always something good to look forward to. Its been a while since I've seen Liv on the big screen so heres hoping May 30th comes sooner.

Not to disclaim the guy but i see that type of "reviews" or "quotes" on movies that aren't really that scary all the time. I guess were just have to wait and see.
