Dorky Fresh, love your cast for SF. I kinda updated it a bit if you don't mind.

I like Takeshi Kaneshiro for Ryu. My alternate choice for Ryu would have to be that guy from Battle Royale...the one with a bandana...will post a pic later.

Only actors I'd change from your line-up would be Bison, Vega and Blanka. IMO, Perlman is a better fit for Bison and I think Blanka doesn't have to be a good actor. I would probably put Ray Park in Blanka prosthetics/make-up.

For Vega, I think a younger/blonde version of Eduardo Noriega would be better...if you can find one.

E.Honda does not have to be a big fat Asian...even in the games, he was always portrayed as being very muscular. Right now, I can't think of anyone who would fit that description.

I was thinking about the outfits and how they might look.

The problem with Street Fighter is that it suffers from the "no one knows why" syndrome, as I like to call it. For example, tights are a long standing tradition in comics, but frmo what I can tell, the first comic books had their heroes in tights because the artists simply weren't good enough to draw flowing fabirc of any kind in motion. Looking at the art, I can buy that.

So now, characters still wear them even though the artists themselves are much better.

There's some strange outfits in there, and the designers obviously put them in to look cool. Vega's look is perfect in regards to his character. As far as I know, M. Bison was never conceived of as a general until a movie, yet he still has a militaristic look to him.

Talking about the movie and its sequels- expect Bison to be dressed in red with perhaps a long flowing black overcoat, and he'll probably have a style of hat close to the one in the game, but one that people actually wear.

With Chun Li, as good as her look is, since the movie is about her taking down Bison's criminal empire, don't expect a dress. But do expect a look that tells you immediately what character you're looking at.

Ryu and Ken- same thing. A martial arts gi makes sense for a tournament, but if they do a sequel and don't have a tourney as the thrust of the plot, expect them to wear their giis only in training scenes.

With most of the characters, their outfits make sense if they're part of a tournament and might want to dress flashier. But if there's no tournament in the plot(and before anyone complains, the animated movie that people love so much didn't feature one either), expect them to still be recognizable, but different.

I feel like Mortal Kombat has given me an appetite for a street fighter movie. Who would be the perfect cast?

Street fighter has huge potential, the budget does not have to be huge... As an example, MK was 55 mil, fight club was 60 mil...

For me, I would follow Ken and Ryu, as they enter this tournament, across the globe - it's underground with massive prize money at steak. No blackmailing or anything.. just straight old two friends getting into his underground fight club. The people fighting have their own agenda, we have egotistical characters, characters state sponsored and characters that are enigmas.

Keep it simple, focus on the training, the emotional toll as these two friends experience it.

Rocky 4 meets fight club meets gladiator.

what IS the story for Street Fighter? Cause MK actually has a cool mythology whereas I never got a sense of story from SF outside of the Anime.

Evil dictator and his minions want to conquer the world and a bunch of people from various backgrounds have a beef with him.

SF live action did a good thing by making it a Bond-like adventure.

I’m sorry Boose, I can’t say that SF 95 did ANYTHING right. I know that a movie about a fighting tournament might seem a little dull but turning it into cheap attempt at Bond-style adventure was a terrible idea. Nothing about it is good. I know people have a lot of love for Raul Julia’s performance but I think that’s just because it was his last film and fans look upon it a bit too fondly. His over-the-top performance is up there with Jeremy Irons in Dungeons & Dragons for me.

Street Fighter is not, however, the worst movie I’ve ever seen with Raul Julia though... that honor goes to Overdrawn at the Memory Bank. If you ever wondered what The Matrix would have been like if Neo got his consciousness transferred into a baboon, I’ve got the movie for you, brother. The only way to watch it and not want to jump out of a window is to watch the MST3K version.
