What are your hopes for the style of the film? I would really love to see something profound from Captain America, a superhero meets history sort of style similar to Brubakers run on Cap but I would also love the odd classic movie reference every now and then.

well i am for an action/adventure story like indiana jones, with highlights of real historical stuff of the period, then marvel stuff thrown into the mix.

Action adventure, but I woudn't mind if they go a bit darker than indiana jones

Combo of the three. And when I hear blockbuster, I think Transformers or GI Joe. And they should stay far away from that type of blockbuster.

Now that you mention Inglourious Basterds, if you cut out the graphic violence and profanity, that might be a good general model for a Cap film.

Number one priority is to make it fun. You can't bore the audiences with a bunch of history lessons. That doesn't mean, however, you sacrifice a well written script for just pure action. Iron Man should be really be looked at and followed, as I think it has set the standard for the future of Marvel superhero movies, just as The Dark Knight has for DC projects. Have very likable characters, strong dilemmas, and entertain the hell out of us.

The only thing I'd wanna transfer or Basterds is the sheer villainy of Waltz into Weaving/Skull. Everything else needs to feel like an Indiana movie. And the Invaders better not take up half the movie and overshadow the lead character.

think they will give it a band of brother look when it comes to color scheme?

Agreed. Inglourious Basterds with superheroes is kind of how I see Cap.

I don't see why a historically-accurate film can't be a big blockbuster. I think, and hope, Marvel will get all aspects of the movie right.

Ugh. WHY does everyone want every WW2 movie to be Ingloreous Basturds now? Saving Private Ryan is still THE golden standard for war movies IMO, and IGB is about 20 years behind SPR in terms of sensitivity and care paid to the source.

I don't want to turn this into a debate about IGB because this is not the place for it, but I would much rather have a film similar in tone to SPR than IGB. We can do a lot better than having a clone of IGB with superheroes.

I am going to say that Cap should be more Indy than Saving Private Ryan. The movie needs to be a WW2 action-adventure with some fantastical elements. Mavel is about fun, so I would be surprised if they get too steeped in historical reality. The style needs to be consistent with IM and TIH, so going with dark, gritty color schemes and set pieces is going to clash pretty bad with the larger MCU.

I agree with OB1.....this is going to be lighter than the Indiana Jones flicks. I know we all want Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan and Inglorious Basterds with people being head shotted and bodies blowing up but that really doesnt work in a Captain America movie....and not one they want to have the same people who saw IM and IM2 come see. Feige also mentioned that we arent seeing WW2 but Marvel's WW2.

I think the lighthearted, quite historically inaccurate tone of Basterds would suit Cap better than the grim, gritty reality of Saving Private Ryan.

You go the Ryan way, a guy running around in a lycra Stars and Stripes is gonna look pretty silly.

First off, can we give lycra a rest already? We all know full well this will be a big budget production. Anyways, give me an Indy type movie. I'm not going to go see a Marvel movie to get depressed.

about half Iron Man/ half Private Ryan...just like I want Thor to be Half Iron Man/ Half LotR. they need to ultimately work with Iron Man and Hulk.

Something like Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow meets Armageddon meets On the Waterfront.

I expect Bog Summer Blockbuster, but a "classic Hollywood" movie like Great Escape to reflect the movie's time period would be awesome.

i cant wait to see how it all turns out in the tone/scope of things.

i hope its more Elektra/Catwoman

Actually Roach, it should be like the 70s Captain America movie, even down to the costume. :o

awesome with the copied Wonder Woman effects too

Yep, and a bunch of Scenes of nothing but Cap driving around in his van. Yes, his van.

Oh, and his motorcycle too.

with the shield doubling as a motorcycle windshield
