The Thunderbolts* News and Discussion Thread

I'll totally watch it but.....it doesnt excite me with the characters they put together. Hopefully im wrong after it comes out

I aint gonna judge the use of Sentry or lack of whatever Thunderbolts character you wanna argue should have been here until I see the movie.

I don't think they were 'hiding' Sentry's face. I think the dark mysterious figure who seems not quite really there is their visual design concept for what the Void looks like. Though I wouldn't be surprised if that still isn't the exact finished effect that will appear in the film.
Still weird that Lewis' face was completely not shown in the second trailer, since he's in the posters.

I wonder if there's another trailer*

Cause they just showed him as Bob, not Sentry or Void.

I was of the same opinion when they announced the members of the group. I found the choice of a group of only supersoldiers monotonous and not very intriguing, precisely because they are too similar to each other in terms of combat skills.

Now, however, I am intrigued by the idea in contrast to Sentry, a comic book character that I do not like at all, but easily lends itself to a dichotomy between the group of soldiers and the super, man against God.

The plot seems to follow Gunn's "The Suicide Squad": a disjointed group is put together for a mission, they will find themselves having to fight a very strong enemy resulting from the experimentation of the United States government. In the end it will be discovered that the real villain is America itself.

"They didn't send you to fight alien technology. Your government sent you here to cover up that it's part of this!"

However, if the focus in Gunn's film was US geopolitics, in this film the focus seems to be this dichotomy between man and super-man/God.
An important component could also be played by the super soldier serum and all its moral implications.

Yelena/Bucky/Ghost/Red Guardian/Sentry/U.S. Agent all announced for Avengers*

Are we expecting tickets on sale by end of this week? 4/11 at the latest.

Every once in a while marvel's suits can be a bit too much with the line work and the superfluous details

but 95% of the time they look great
Too soon to tell from a toy but I'd say this one's in the 'win' category

I know I know I was just joking, but it did remind me of that

The Mcu costumes certainly have a signature detail. But they look great, and they don't look like cheap cosplay. Though I would like to see more variety, rather than looking like all mcu costumes were designed by 1 person.

The Sentry look should have been all over the marketing. It really doesn't make sense to hide him, especially with the line up of this film*

Honestly? It really does make sense.

No one in the general audience has a clue who the Sentry is. Him just being there isn't a draw. And focusing on him in the marketing would make this film look a lot more like an average superhero movie, which is exactly the kind of superhero movie audiences have been less than kind to in recent years. Focusing on the T-Bolts as a much more grounded team of weirdos possibly very in over their heads makes it feel at least a little more unique (especially relative to recent MCU movies). And it gives them the opportunity to wow general audiences with the revelation of Sentry's true capabilities after introducing him as 'Bob'.
