The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn

I've kept my mouth shut too long.

I hate Twilight and everything about it. I'm so tired of the pretty boy vampires. give me a vampire who's thirst for blood is unquenchable and who live in a clan-like society where it's survival of the fittest...BEASTS who hunt the human cattle.
On the flip side, vampires should also be seductive, sexual beings. That's how they've always been. These Uber-monster type vampires are just as silly and boring as the Stephenie Meyer vampires.

I actually enjoyed the Twilight flick and found it amusing, but then I tried to read the book and got halfway before giving up on that crap. Ugh.

Anyway, I have a question...

...why is the process of killing a vampire so ridiculously complicated in this universe? Dismember the body and then burn all the individual pieces? THAT'S the only weakness they have? What happens if you don't burn the severed limbs - do they all crawl back together again like The Iron Giant or some crap? And if they're so damned invulnerable, why haven't they overrun humanity and killed off all their prey by now? For god's sake, even sunlight doesn't hurt them...

I've got a good answer for you: Stephenie Meyer is a terrible writer.

Eh, most fans of good writing agree that her writing is the quality of poor fanfiction.

I like books that most people consider "good", and I like Stephenie's books. Sure she's not the best author in the world, but she's not as horrible as people say.

Summit Entertainment has tapped Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona to direct "Eclipse," the third pic in the "Twilight" vampire series.

Summit, which had no comment Wednesday, is expected to make the official announcement soon. The minimajor recently gave "Eclipse" a release date of June 30, 2010.

Bayona's a protege of Guillermo Del Toro. He directed the Spanish-language horror-thriller "The Orphanage," which was exec produced by Del Toro, and is attached to helm the Universal thriller "Hater," with Del Toro and Mark Johnson producing.

Summit's opted for a different director on each "Twilight" pic. Chris Weitz replaced "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke on "New Moon." Production's due to start shortly on "New Moon" with the key thesps -- Robert Pattinson as Edward, Kristen Stewart as Bella and Taylor Lautner as Jacob -- reprising their roles.

"New Moon" is set to open Nov. 20. Melissa Rosenberg, who penned the "Twilight" and "New Moon" scripts, is working on "Eclipse," in which Bella is forced to choose between Edward and Jacob. The four books in Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" series have sold more than 17 million copies worldwide.

I think they're so bad because

A. They're clearly her own ridiculous fantasies

B. She tries to sound much smarter then she is by using a thesaurus to insert ''big words'' throughout her stories that I doubt she would know without the help of the fore-mentioned thesaurus

C. All the books were REALLY REALLY RUSHED. I think she wrote one a year... because the first one was written in 2005. That is INSANELY FAST.

So it's really no surprise they're rushing the movies as well :o

For you, perhaps, but not for everyone.

True, there's no accounting for taste. One man's trash, another man's treasure (or in this case, more likely "woman's). There are elements of the original Twilight that I find to be well-done, I will admit. I myself, however, find most of it to be pretty awful. To me, the movie made the characters seem more relatable/endearing than they are on paper.

When I read the title on Coming Soon.net for a second (more like a minute) I thought it read "Beyonce Will Direct Twilight..."

I was like, WHAT THE ****?!?!?!?

That'd I'd actually pay to see, cause the results would be hilarious.

''All the single vampires....all the single vampires...if you like it...then you should bite mark on it."

Well, they have a reason to "rush". The actors playing the vampires can't age significantly. Of course, a year or so wouldn't make much difference, but the principle is the same. And besides, the books take place pretty close to one another time-wise.

Thank you for an actual intelligent answer. I'm glad you didn't dismiss Twilight as "completely terrible". And I'm glad you enjoyed the movie.

I don't think they need to rush that badly because of age. Tom Welling is like 30 and he still played a teen/very early twenties Clark Kent

:lmao:

I'm going to have to run to Hot Topic to get the all new Twilight gear.

I thought they were rushing them out so they can milk money from their fans before they grow up and realize how terrible the series is.

I do get the impression that they think this is a "fad." But I doubt it'll pass until the movies are up, even if they take two years to do each one. The old fans will feed new fans, just like Harry Potter. What seems old hat to some of us won't be for the hardcores, you know?

Does that really matter so much, David Borenaz played a vampire in 3 seasons of Buffy and then another 5 on his own show. Sure you could tell the actor aged some, but didn't make that much of an impact on the show.
