This whole Team Edward vs Team Jacob thing has got me thinking. Edward is kinda creepy. This dude stalks her, watches her sleep, and goes through her stuff. And that's just in the first two movies. I can only imagine what's gonna come up next. Then there's Jacob, whose actually a nice kid. He doesn't do any of the creepy stuff that Edward does. Plus, as a werewolf, his entire job is to defend humans. So, in the Twilight world, vampires are evil and werewolves are not. Yet, this dumb Bella Swan chick is choosing the creepy vampire. I haven't read the books, but I assume that doesn't end well.

Catman, we do have a Twilight movie thread

I see threads for the individual movies. My question is for the series in general.

The cautionary tale is, never let your girlfriend decide which movie to go to.

I heard she turns into a vampire.

Its true.

I dunno about you, but someone who stays a virgin for 108 yrs... theres something wrong there.

edward looks like a pale skeleton while jacob is this tan buff guy and she chooses pale skellator lol

I’m not sure if Twilight teaches teenage girls to stay away from shirtless guys. It seems with a huge opening of 142 million last weekend, female audiences are fascinated with shirtless guys fighting for the girl they love.

I can’t understand why this so called vampire saga about a female protagonist who gets herself involved in a creepy relationship has become a boxoffice phenomenon.

The success of TWILIGHT is a cautionary tale.

Catman, good question. I've been relating to Twilight and New Moon through the experiences with my ex girlfriend. I see a lot of myself in not only both Edward and Jacob, but Bella as well. That's made it hard for me to have the "Edward or Jacob" opinion that naturally comes with New Moon. While I see that Jacob is the safer choice (he's warm, loyal, dependable, good-looking), Edward has his positives as well (protective, handsome, genuine). Bella will have to sacrifice to be with either one, and either relationship presents risks to her life. There is enough balance in the equation that the most important thing is that Bella loves Jacob, but is in love with Edward, if you get my meaning.

So, I don't think that the story is a cautionary tale. I think it should show girls, if they find meaning in movies, that the dangerous guy can be the right one, but they need to be with him if he's going to genuinely love and care about her.

Can we stop talking about Twilight? I'm sorry to be a jerk...but man.....it wont go away.

I have a feeling the 300 sequel may be rushed now that the demand for hot-shirtless-guy movies is at a fever pitch.

It's not a cautionary tale. When it blew up I read through the summaries through wikipedia and
She ends up with Edward. They even have a kid together that's like cursed or something. She becomes a vampire
and either way Meyer's story presents everything Edward does in a positive light no matter how creepy.

Seriously? Another Twilight wank thread?

I know in the first movie/book it's all about out of wedlock sex. Bella wants to have sex with him, but he refuses cause he might not resist the temptation to bite her. Now she wants to be a vampire and Edward is like, "we have to get married first."

WOW. You JUST now thought of this?

How late am I to the party?
