The Ultimate Jossverse Thread

The final straw for me with Xander was way before his reaction to Buffy and Spike. It was when he left Anya at the altar despite he knew the future he saw was all faked.
When it came to women, Xander had it bad.

But that made for a more interesting story, and was all character arc-y for the both of them.

Also, Xander's reaction to Buffy and Spike was pretty reasonable. Buffy and Spike was messed up.

No it wasn't. Buffy's a grown ass woman, she's not Xander's properity. She's his best friend, ocassional crush/current crushee. But if Buffy wants to sleep with a dude to feel. Xander's got no say in it. Same for when he yelled at Anya about it. His fault. If he hadn't left her at the Altar for really no reason, it wouldn't have happened.

Xander Harris is a *****ebag. It's funny how he's supposedly the heart of the group, caring, and friends with everyone yet, he's the one whose so quick to judge everyone, but never once stops to look at himself. When he's the worst one of them all in entire group of the Scoobies/Fang Gang.

Yeah, no, Buffy's relationship with Spike was royally ****ed up. Xander may have been too harsh, but I think he had a right to call her on it. I think that if you're friends with someone, and they're self destructing, you should say something.

And Xander's the worst of either group? Really? He's one of the few who's never murdered and/or tortured someone. Honestly, I think he comes off smelling of roses.

It's funny how the murdered or tortured someone, but is essentially the worst human being of the groups, IMO. Xander had no reason to be harsh to Buffy about her relationship with Spike. Xander was thinking in a damn it I want both of you for myself way, that's the way I read that scene between him, Anya, Buffy, and Spike at the magic box. Not a caring way at all.

The only time I saw a truly caring Xander was when he stopped Dark Willow.

No, Xander's reaction to Buffy's relationship with Spike was pretty obviously "what in God's name were you thinking?" If Xander really wanted Buffy "all to himself," why would he have given her the "go after Riley" pep talk in season five?

And Xander had every reason to be harsh to Buffy about her relationship with Spike. It was horribly self destructive and psychologically abusive, and also with a barely reformed super villain who'd tried to kill them on several occasions.

Also... no, Xander is not the worst human being of either group. By virtue of the fact that he has never engaged in acts of torture or murder. Those pretty much propel you into general badness much more than a few cases of being kind of mean when you were angry. And leaving your fiance at the alter. That's also nowhere near as bad as murder or torture. It was a dick move, but it's better than murder and torture.

You won't change my mind about Xander Harris. He's a terrible human being and it's terrible to see that Buffy's finally come around to him in Season 8. She deserves much better than that ****head. He should've died instead of Anya, Spike, or hell anyone that died in the finale.

Your definition of terrible human being scares and confuses me.

^ it annoys me too. Lets try a little experiment. Your best friend is f***ing a dead guy, like hard core, abusive f***ing. That dead guy then proceeds to screw your ex-fiance, who while you did break her heart, you regret more than anything. Ok, now you find out about all this, are you telling me that you're gonna take the high ground in this situation? If so, than you severely lack basic HUMAN behaviour. Case and point, Xander Harris is the most HUMAN member of the scoobies, both literally and conceptually.

Been trollin' the internet all day over the whole "Joss Whedon Directs the Avengers."

I love him. Hell, my husband loves him. I can't decide which of his series I like/love more...

Although my husband and I can both agree on one thing; Wesley Wyndham-Price. Best. Character. Ever.

Glenn Quinn would have been 40 today.

HELLS YES:yay::yay:

Wesly defiently had the best character transfomation arc across both series. It wasnt sudden or forced. It made sense and he really grew into his own. I think a close second would be Cordelia's

After careful consideration, I've decided that Angel may just be one of the most underrated series of all time.

And the fact that that went unnoticed confirms my suspicions. :o

I completely agree. I'm thinking about doing a series marathon this week, but I don't have season 5 on dvd.
