ever wanted to make a mixtape (or cd's in today's world) for that special someone? or maybe a friend or family member?

know a song that would be perfect for a certain situation or just needs to be on a mixtape? post it here for us all to check out. got some reccomendations? put em here too.

Links to mp3s and/or vids and lyrics=

this could also be a "how to" so to speak. With tips on Dos and Donts, discussions on mixtapes given and received in years past, or whatever. and how these mixtapes turned out, whether they worked or didn't.

etc etc

I wanted Majin Boo to help me help him...but that was not to happen.
multipurpose all around sap

wow, that's pretty neat, a little all over the place but cool.
you think you should put some distance between Coltrane and Davis?

Hence the Sound of Silence in between them.

It has layers.

can't talk about mixtapes, without saying the Mixtape song.

Mixtape-Butch Walker
He's one of my favorite artists, yet no one i know even knows who he is. if a guy ever made me a mixtape and put something of his on it, he'd get major bonus points.

here's the lyrics to Mixtape:

You say hello, inside I'm screaming I love you
You say goodnight, in my mind
I'm sleeping next to you
You drive away from my car crash of a heart
And I don't know

But you gave me the best mixtape I have
And even all the bad songs ain't so bad
I just wish there was so much more than that
About me and you

You talk to him, and it burns me like the sun
You talk to her, and you say that you feel like he's the one
I talk to me, but you can't hear the pain I feel
You don't know

Cause you gave me the best mixtape I have
And even all the sad songs ain't so sad
I only wish that there was more than that
About me and you

[Bridge]
Oh, don't turn around and say bye again
Yeah it crushes my head when you call me
Your friend and I'm not the same person
From back in the day in the back of the class
That you thought was gay
No I can't find the words cause I lost them
The minute they fell out of my mouth
And it's love and I'm in it, so give me your lips
And just let me kiss 'em
And let's get messed up and listen to probably...

The best mixtape I have
And even all the bad songs ain't so bad
I just wish there was so much more than that
About me and you

here's a vid of him performing it

The best mix tapes are filled with songs that the girl in question will know/ recognize without being too cliche or overplayed. I like to go with 90s hits because everyone my age loves the music we grew up to, even if it isn't really their style. They can tell you otherwise, but it isn't true.

Champagne Supernova - Oasis
Heaven - Live
Counting Blue Cars - Dishwalla
Save Tonight - Eagle Eye Cherry
Hey Jealousy - Gin Blossoms
Sex and Candy - Marcy Playground
Lightning Crashes - Live
Extra Ordinary - Better than Ezra
Glycerine - Bush
Closing Time - Semisonic
If you could only see - Tonic
Maybe a little Hootie and the Blowfish, "How Bizzare" by OMC, "Just a Girl" by No Doubt or any other 90s hit.

these are my faves of your choices, especially Hey Jealousy cuz I can never hear that song enough for some reason.

I think it's a little to tight for the songs, but yeah I guess it could work, I would've moved a couple of songs instead.

1.- Kings of Convenience
- Failure
2.- Morphine- Scratch
3.- Sea Ray - Stray Dog's got It Made
4.- Spinanes - Azure
5.- Eric Matthews - Yes, Everyone
6.- Blur - No distance Left to Run
7.- Tom Waits - Come On Up To The House
8.- Ornette Coleman - Friends and Neighbours

something to realize you lost it all, and are completely okay with it.

if i was making a mix tape for a guy, which i've never done before. (never received one either :( lol), i'd probably consider this song.

Crash Into Me- Dave Matthews Band

You've got your ball,
You've got your chain
Tied to me tight, tie me up again.
Who's got their claws
In you my friend?
Into your heart I'll beat again
Sweet like candy to my soul
Sweet you rock,
And sweet you roll
Lost for you, I'm so lost for you

Oh, and you come crash into me
And I come into you
And I come into you
In a boy's dream
In a boy's dream

Touch your lips just so I know
In your eyes, love, it glows so
I'm bare-boned and crazy... for you.

Oh, and you come crash into me
Baby, and I come into you
In a boy's dream
In a boy's dream

And if I've gone overboard
Then I'm begging you
To forgive me
In my haste
When I'm holding you so girl,
Close to me

Oh and you come crash into me, yeah
Baby, and I come into you
Hike up your skirt a little more
And show the world to me
Hike up your skirt a little more
And show your world to me
In a boy's dream
In a boy's dream

Oh, I watch you there
Through the window
And I stare at you
You wear nothing, but you
Wear it so well
Tied up and twisted,
The way I'd like to be
For you, for me, come crash into me
Come crash into me, yeah

Crash into me...
Crash into me...

You know, I'm the king of the castle,
You're the dirty rascal, crash into me.
Please crash into me, baby...

Oh, no no no...
Yes, I see the waves
Come and crash into me.
See the waves come and crash into me.
Crash into me.

here's a vid

how bout this one?

dire straits- romeo and juliet

a lovestruck romeo sings a streetsuss serenade
laying everybody low with a lovesong that he made
finds a convenient streetlight steps out of the shade
says something like you and me babe how about it?

juliet says hey it's romeo you nearly gimme a heart attack
he's underneath the window she's singing hey la my boyfriend's back
you shoudn't come around here singing up at people like that
anyway what you gonna do about it?

juliet the dice were loaded from the start
and i bet and you exploded in my heart
and i forget i forget the movie song
when you gonna realize it was just that the time was wrong juliet?

come up on different streets they both were streets of shame
both dirty both mean yes and the dream was just the same
and i dreamed your dream for you and now your dream is real
how can you look at me as i was just another one of your deals?

when you can fall for chains of silver you can fall for chains of gold
you can fall for pretty strangers and the promises they hold
you promised me everything you promised me thick and thin
now you just say oh romeo yeah you know i used to have a scene with him

juliet when we made love you used to cry
you said i love you like the stars above i'll love you till i die
there's a place for us you know the movie song
when you gonna realize it was just that the time was wrong?

i can't do the talk like they talking on the tv
and i can't do a love song like the way its meant to be
i can't do everything but i'd do anything for you
i can't do anything except be in love with you

and all i do is miss you and the way we used to be
all i do is keep the beat and bad company
all i do is kiss you through the bars of a rhyme
julie i'd do the stars with you any time

juliet when we made love you used to cry
you said i love you like the stars above i'll love you till i die
there's a place for us you know the movie song
when you gonna realize it was just that the time was wrong?

a lovestruck romeo sings a streetsuss serenade
laying everybody low with a lovesong that he made
finds a convenient streetlight steps out of the shade

video- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gz4TDrE67mI
live performance- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3n2wXEFeLI

the video's horrible, but the song would definitely at least go on my Mellow mix

better, I will not have that Filthy dave matthews in this thread missy :cmad:

The Replacement's
"I Will Dare"
should be part of those "special friends"(sic) mixtapes
here's the song

How young are you?
How old am I?
Let's count the rings around my eyes
How smart are you?
How dumb am I?
Don't count any of my advice

Oh, meet me anyplace or anywhere or anytime
Now I don't care, meet me tonight
If you will dare, I might dare

Call me on Thursday, if you will
Or call me on Wednesday, better still
Ain't lost yet, so I gotta be a winner
Fingernails and a cigarette's a lousy dinner
Young, are you?

Meet me anyplace or anywhere or anytime
Now, I don't care, meet me tonight
If you will dare, I will dare

Eyes- Rogue Wave

Missed the last train home
birds pass by to tell me
that im not alone
well im pushing myself
to finish this part
i can handle a lot
but one thing i'm missing is in your eyes

have you seen this film
it reminds me of walking down the avenue
well im washing my hands of attachments,
yeah i will land on the ground
but one thing I’m missing is in your eyes

i just like this song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRXd8jtQPaA
