Because it is. I don't believe his sob story one bit. Did he get called names and insulted? Yeah, probably it's Hollywood. Be a man and get over it.
So you don't believe him, but are simultaneously saying it probably happened? Or is it that you don't believe he felt that bad about the abuse...but, hey, he should get over this thing that he probably isn't sad about?

What is this ****** juice? Like seriously, Darth.

6, white ranger counts twice. pre-movie with the tiger and post movie with the bird
You could throw in the White Ninja Ranger (that half-step between normal people and Power Rangers where they dressed in magic ninja jammies) if you want to get all arbitrary like that.

I'm surprised they never did. They loved to do wacky-ass episodes like reuniting every Red Ranger ever.

Yeah, that Red Ranger episode was celebrating the 10 year anniversary of PR or something. Maybe they'll do it in 2013-14 when it's 20 years. :awesome:

ah sailor moon, hated that show. from having the same basic plot as power rangers to the romance novel archetype male characters to the crazy chick in science class who wouldn't stop talking about it...

Well, the actual Power Rangers (or at least the genre they spawned from) was mixed in that show. I know you mean Tuxedo Mask for the male thing, but that element was toned down a lot, and ultimately, his role wasn't all that important I don't think.

Though, I assume you mean the American dub? It's what I was watching at the time, and it's severely edited and changed. I discovered the original show, and it was literally like watching a separate show. A testament to the power of editing.

I :hrt: Sailor Moon. The manga is better but the anime was also fab

True, it was quite a bit better.

you know you wanted a pair...they were those when they only wanted to kick ass a little

Wanted? B****, I had a pair of ninja jammies.

and blowing a third of the seasons budget on that one episode....and making the current red Wild Force Ranger a drooling fanboy for Tommy
Better than randomly having his stupid motorcycle do what all of those other f***ers put together could not by having him single-handedly stop that giant dragon thing. Talk about pandering to the current guy. Just 'cause it happened in his season, which was entirely s***ty except for the fact that its Yellow Ranger was super-hot. :o

there was also the lawrence of arabia version, but i always suspected it was the same guy.
i'm sure the orginal is "better" but i still doubt i'd be intrested at all.

Not sure what you mean by the lawrence of arabia version? Was he a regular character?

And, yeah, probably not. If you have no interest in the overall premise it won't matter, but it's kind of amazing really, how different the two versions are. It's like watching Brazil, then watching the TV cut they did. Crazy.

So, speaking of old shows, I just recently heard of Blake's 7. It sounds awesome. Has anyone seen it? Is it, in fact, awesome?

I've never seen the later seasons of PR, but I've been watching Linkara's summaries on them on AT4W and it actually seems like a lot of interesting stuff happened.

Nah...it turned out to be a piece of his soul, going around helping the girls when he lost his memories.

well im pretty sure the original subject matter in Sailor Moon probably wasn't suitable for afternoon tv viewing here in the US

I don't...even remember that part. I need to go back and rewatch the show and reread the comics.

Yeah, probably not, especially in the later seasons when all the lesbianism, incest, and darker elements came into the show. Still, though, it was really cut up something fierce, especially the first season.

i might be misremembering, but he had pretty much the same character model as tuxedo mask (and behaved in much the same way) but dressed in all white loose clothing.

Haven't seen it. Is it a British show?

But also speaking of old shows

YEEEAAAAHHHH!

Honestly the first season was pretty tame. Some violent content and gay villains, but things like Avatar and Gargoyles (off the top of my head) got away with much worse. All the bestiality and genderbending came in the last couple of seasons.

Anyway, it's more that they were trying to market it to some imaginary, nonexistent subset of prepubescent girl that can't handle Serious Business in their fantasy princess cartoons or...something.

Yeah, if it had come out later it may have been able to get away with more (I think the Toonami run started with the original run on Fox, maybe?). They even went as far as changing the sides of the road cars drove in and stuff, too, to Americanize it as much as possible. Just crazy stuff like that, it's a pretty good example of how editing can out and out change something when misused.

No, no. What it is is like 3 or 4 episodes' worth of interesting stuff spread out across 30-episode seasons, with the remainder of the time filled up by roughly the same formula every episode. Oh, sure, sometimes there's a little variation, like the Red Ranger will get a new toy to beat the monster with instead of calling on the Zords, but it's basically the same goddamn formula. I watched most of the seasons up to Dino Thunder on one insane whim a few years ago and, honestly, they're really not worth watching, for the most part.

Don't remember this ****er?

For shame.

Upon seeing him, yes, I do remember that ****er (I see what lix meant now, but his description conjured up a very...different image for some reason). I don't remember the soul bit, though. It really has been awhile.

I remember that...sweet getup

as for what I like to call oddball anime, I did enjoy the episodes of Tenchi Muyo that I watched....goofy but it seemed aware that it was goofy

It is. It's supposed to be The Dirty Dozen in space. This guy named Blake busts out of prison with a few others and starts a revolution against the government, which by then encompasses Earth and various other planets. I'm gonna watch a few episodes and see if it's as awesome as it sounds (in spite of the '70s effects that I'm sure will look terrible, since the BBC didn't really give its sci fi shows much cash back then).

Yeah, I liked that one, too, have the boxset. Didn't like the other series after it as much. It also got edited and cut up pretty bad in the States
