Transformers The User Review Thread [SPOILERS IN ABUNDANCE!]

Some people have already seen the movie, and many, many more are going to in the next few days. I figured this would be a good place to sum up what we thought of the film, list pros and cons, etc.

pros: optimus prime, bumblebee, ratchet, ironhide, megatron,
unbelievable action and effects that have raised the bar.
shia lebouf is very good, great charisma.
good laughs.
superentertainment. the best cinematic experience i have had in ages.
brings the "boy" back out in u.

cons: story was servicable but thats it.
starscream shouldve had more to do. we shouldve at least got some sort of star scheme, even it was just some dialogue, like when megatron was asking sam to give him the cube and starscream was perched on a building watching, that was the perfect time for some smartarse starscream comment that irks megatron.
jazz shouldve been cliffjumper, bar some of his ghetto talk, his size and character was pure cliffjumper, esspecially his last lines to megatron. " u wanna piece of me".
the devastator typo...cmon. how did that get through. its brawl, not devastator..hope this gets rectified in the dvd.
cant really think of that much...its easy to nitpick, due to the differences to the source material and the O.T.T nature of the movie, but when u have this much of a fun ride in the cinema, it doesnt feel justified.

I couldn't agree more with you, except for your take on Jazz.

There should be more conflict between Starscream and Megatron.

Other than that, 10 is not a big enough number for me to rate this movie. Ridiculously awesome adrenaline-packed action movie!

I decided to post my review here.

Ok, here's my review. I'll go start with the things that I don't like.
Personally I think Sector 7 was mishandled properly. I imagined them as fearsome organization and I liked the concept behind them, but John Turutto(sp?) as Simmons just didn't do it for me(loved the S7underwear though lol). The next thing I didn't like was the whole goverment hackers trying to explain everything. I have to admit though, Anthony Anderson as Glenn gave me tons of laughs!

Now, for what I liked. In the bottom were the soldier arc with Lennox and Epps. I thought I would hate them but ended up loving them more than S7. Siha as Sam was pure gold and I loved how he actually made scenes with Agent Simmons watchable. He shows great emotion especially with Bumblebee that scene really made me depressed when S7 took him away.
I loved every scene with the Transformers especially the Autobots. It was so epic especially with the music when they arrived on Earth!
All the TFs voices were perfect despite the Decepticons haveing little dialouge. Prime's lines especially his speech with the Autobots near the dam was inspiring to me. Cullen's voice int the intro and end really brought shivers up my spine! Gotta love Cullen!

P.S. watching this on a Lazyboy with unlimited drinks
and popcorn was the ROXXORZ!!!!

I can't get enough of how fluid the movements of the robots were. Love how they went from vehicles doing more than 60mph and immediately transform with screeching wheels and get into a kungfu-like battle stance.

No matter what they do - either transforming or fighting or simply goofing around at the Witwickys, they were a delight to watch.

i hear u man...the autobots arrival was a brilliantly filmed scene....i had the goosebumps and the teary wide eyes....
this movie had the WOW factor....its a great albiet rare feeling when u get that vibe in the cinema....thats the reason u watch movies...

Without their car decals its hard to tell them apart, but that looks right to me, though the pool scene, i always thought was Magatron rising.

Well doesn't Bumblebee cause Barricade to get impaled, Bumblebee jogs on then sometime later Barricade awakes and calls the other Decepticons? That is how the script reads anyway...if not please tell me how the movie differs

Nope. Bumblebee and Barricade got into a fight, then the scene changed to the fight between Sam and Frenzy. After Sam won the fight, Sam and Mikaela went over to Bumblebee only to see him standing victoriously with Barricade slumped somewhere. That's it.

Aw man...and then is that it for Barricade for the rest of the film? If so what attracts the Decepticons to Megatron? In the script Barricade signalled (sp) them as he and Frenzy found out where he was...how does it work now?

No, that's not the last of Barricade. He was probably knocked out but he's back for more action later in the movie.

Much later on, Frenzy found out where Megatron and the Allspark were and then he contacted the rest of the Decepticons.

Well see, I have to wait till the 27th of July to see it and that is much easier to bear when I know as much about what happens in the movie as possible. That is how I cope with having to wait for films a while after other parts of the world.

Glad to know Barricade is back.

Oh I saw you say this is better then Spider-Man 3, POTC and 300...okay so would you say it is the best movie you have seen this year?

Small Soldiers meets terminator 2 meets independence day with the humor of Charlie's Angel.
The effects were perfect. The action was perfect. Even though thinking about it now, I can't tell who killed who and who fought who in the final act. I can't remember who star scream was or how Jazz looked like, which is unlike the X-Men, because everyone remembered all the x-men when they left the theater.

You can talk about the super realistic effects and how cool the action was, but it felt like this is where all the passion and creativity from the filmmakers went to, because the characters and the storytelling felt so cheap and messed up.

Michael Bay, I thought you're finally breaking out of your adolescent age by eliminating the 80% action your film always have, or those really corny lines and unrealistic reactions from your paper thin characters, or the balance between style and substance, but is more present here than ever.

I would have given it a 5, but the effects and action makes you see great effort and creativity, sadly effects and action can only go so far.

A very disappointing summer for blockbusters. Not one of these big movies got an A grade for me. Here's to hoping Ratattouille and Phoenix mixes that popcorn magic with some high quality characterization and story telling.

Ugh.. I want it to be next year! Dark knight, hulk, iron man, indy 4!

Pros:

Peter Cullen. He carried the movie for me.

The action. Sometimes it was hard to see what was going on, but the clash between OP and Bonecrusher and later Megatron was cool

The Autobots. Their interaction was great to see.

I enjoyed the first half of the movie. I enjoyed the humor and showing BB's personality through the radio was a nice touch.


Cons:

The story....What story? Glasses that reveal the location of the Allspark? WTF? And then it turns out those glasses ended up being nothing but a useless plot device? What a shame that in their quest to not make this a cartoon, they couldn't make a story that wasn't written for one.

No character development whatsoever.

The Decepticons were INCREDIBLY underdeveloped. Most of them had two or three lines at the most.

Frenzy. Is he a Gremlin or a TF?

Lack of the transforming sound. It was there but under utilised. Some places like the very first time OP transformed it wasn't even used!

Optimus without a faceplate. It took me out of believing it was really OP. Peter Cullen's voice behind the faceplate would have been enough. This is evident in the opening intro.

The flames still sucked.

terrible directing, nearly every movie nowadays suffers from dvd syndrome, you have to buy the dvd to see whats going on in the action scenes.

fantastic designs, seriously, if you think a luger would have been a better villan, or faces made of solid metal should move, just end youself..
these designs were great.

thru the building!

even though the directing was hectic, the fight scene at the end was great.

all in all, i would've preferred jim cameron for directing, but for all its fault[and there were a few] it was a great ride.

Well I haven't seen the film, but I heard it was Ironhide. Wasn't Prime the one who crashed in the field? With Ratchet being the one who crashed in the stadium?

my biggest issue was the transformers dialog, not enough of it and they sounded to immature in my opinion especially with them saying lubricating so much lol, it was funny the first time but after that i kinda thought the joke was old and lame. i was also really sad the way Jazz ended, i doubt he will be brought back, but i still hope Bay considers it, i mean it annoyed me soo much that they kill Jazz off, when hes one of the only transformers from the 80's show to survive the animated movie, it kills me he was chosen as the victim and not ironhide or ratchet who die in the cartoon series, still he was awesome and i think he had more to say than the others. who thinks their were alot of scenes missing? i noticed a few transformers were absent in the final battle.
