Sony Pictures Television has signed a script deal with "Breaking Bad" writer John Shiban on a sci-fi drama tentatively titled "The Voyage."

Project, about the discovery of an alien race that may be interacting with humans, is currently attached to AMC.

Shiban, who worked with "Breaking Bad" showrunner Vince Gilligan on "The X-Files," would exec produce with Lynda Obst. In addition to his work on "Breaking Bad," Shiban has also written for "Supernatural," "The Lone Gunman," "Star Trek: Enterprise" and "Torchwood."

I knew this was coming! So stoked!

Wow.

I love how AMC is expanding the television genres theyre willing to explore on the network.

It's pretty cool indeed, lots my favorite shows are on AMC.

Mad Men
Breaking Bad
The Killing
The walking Dead

If the new series works out, maybe they could do a space exploration show like Star Trek.

I hope it's good. I need a new sci-fi show to watch.

Sweet! Sounds like a TV version of Contact.

AMC can do no wrong (except The Prisoner remake).

Yaeh, I gotta agree with the Rubicon misstep.

I tried watching it and what I saw was good, but it didnt really grab my attention.

The Prisoner was underwhelming as well.

Rubicon was amazing. Second favourite AMC series of mine right behind Breaking Bad.

I liked the concept of Rubicon a lot more than I liked the execution. When I think back on it, I feel like a good 80% of the scenes in that show were of morose white people staring at stacks of papers.
