The Wachowskis' Ninja Assassin

This is your brasic, non-thinking, action movie with lots of blood. Probably wont sit well with critics. But if you go just to have fun then you might like it.
Besides Linh Dan Pham is damn fine to look at :)

I havent watched this film... but from the trailer, comeon, Punisher War zone?

This movie seems like it has some breathtaking martial arts scenes

The scene with the main character doing flips through the building and when the action carries to the street were more expensive and better looking than PWZ . It's not a fair comparison .

unfortunatly i dont see ninja assassin reaching 40mil domestically.. however the foreign numbers should be much bigger.

Well it will have already made half that after the weekend. It'll be close to $30 million going into it's 2nd weekend. $40-$50 million is looking pretty good right now.

Weekend Estimates - http://www.ercboxoffice.com/index.php
6 NINJA ASSASSIN Warner Bros. · 2503 · $14,000,000 · $5,593 · $22,000,000

I hope this is sucessful because i want to see more ninja films being made and i would liek a sequel to this although it is unlikely.

Mika mentioned the ninjas operate on a international scale. A sequel could work if they elaborate on that. Maybe introduce rival clans in the process. That would be awesome.

I might be going to see this today. I love Ninjas (I'm actually writing a comic book about them) and this looks bad ass.

I gotta admit, I'm very disappointed in the Box Office totals. Where are the Balls, guys?

In the malls, being dragged by their girlfriends and wives. :(

After seeing this, what would the consensus be about McTiegue taking on the next TMNT movie. PG-13 level, of course.

I though more guys would want to watch something with a bit more testosterone than New Moon again...

It didn't have any major film stars. Some of the populous do tend to use that as their gauge.

After having watched this last night I think he would definitely be a good choice for a TMNT film. He definitely got some great ninja skills down in Ninja Assassin.

I loved that scene where he is escaping the ninjas near the end on the rafters and they're all jumping after him doing rolls and flips, that was badass.

IMO, a perfect example of a movie that should have been a video game. Think about it, Ninja Gaiden meets Assassin's Creed meets God of War. A great game. I mean come on, that last fight was such a boss battle.

Saw it this afternoon, it was pretty awesome. The story is pretty hollow, but I didn't see it for the story, I just wanted to see awesome fighting, and I pretty much got it.

I was pretty impressed by the action pieces even if they weren't shot particularly clearly, but I never had a problem telling what was going on.

The scene in the base reminded me a lot of the barricade shootout near the end of Aliens, with the red lighting and the firing all over.

Got what I expected.

I just seen it this afternoon. Awesome ****ing movie, a must own on Blu-Ray, this was definatly made for the people like me who ate up the Cannon/ Golan Globus Ninja/ martial arts films of the 80's! Except they threw in that Anime rate of speed to the ninjas, and I loved the blood play and weapons used. Loved it. People complain about CG blood over squibs, but I got to tell you what, creatively you can never do a quid of on set blood effect and have it look 100% right to a director. With CG blood, you can do it and not have it look like a lawn sprinkler spraying red syrup (see Freddy vs. Jason; horrible standard bloodwork). I know nothing of Rain, but he seemed pretty cool. We will just not acknowledge he's just a Korean Justin Timberlake, so let's just throw him in with Michael Dudikoff (actually, Rain is a hell of a lot more believable with the martial arts work than Mike ever was) as far as believibility. I got a kick out of seeing Sho Kusugi in such a prominent role in a Ninja movie again, even got the Anime style scar face going.

Had a great time too, friends enjoyed it as well. I even had one of my buddies see New Moon last night for the 2nd time with his Mom and girlfriend , and was giving him crap about lacking Ball. So it was this or Boondock Saints 2. I happily donated to this film this weekend, on principle.

8.5/10

Are people really complaing about the gore in a NINJA movie?

Seriously? You people will watch all saw movies and every other horror movie out there, but complain about the blood and decapitations in this ninja movie?

Gtfo. Seriously? I'm a girl and I felt like I didn't have enough ass kicking, limb slicing, decapitation scenes in my ninja movie.

I definatly hope there's going to be a sequel.

Hell yea... I think he would be an awesome choice... I seriosuly loved how he treated the ninjas and if he did that with the turtles it would be an epic win

I highly recommend this movie. Went to see it with my sister and we both really liked it. I will definitely be buying this when it hits blu ray.

I liked the little in-joke when one of the Interpol guys who had him captured was like, "he looks like he belongs in a boy band."
