The Walking Dead The Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 5 "Internment"

The wire fence not being properly supported still doesn't make much sense given the time gap with them building the prison community and infrastructure. But it did make for a harrowing sequence in this episode. I just wish the dramatic tension in the show didn't come so often from character negligence and/or poor planning.

Before the mystery rat feeder the fence was doing just fine. Whoever's been feeding the rats to the walkers has caused more and more walkers to show up. It was briefly addressed in a conversation about how their numbers have been growing lately, bigger than any they'd seen before. That was near the start before anyone knew there were being baited.

The Rick & Carl team up was rad! I think perhaps Rick has a bit more respect and belief in Carl now, at least that's how it looked to me. It wasn't a cheery situation, life and death etc, but it looked like a real "That's my boy!" moment. Which is good. I think Rick needed it. He's his father, he's always going to worry and try to protect him, but I think/hope Rick gets off Carl's back a little now. If he wants Carl to act like an adult, with sense and care, then he needs to treat him as one, and as an equal, and not try to shield him from everything.

Great development in that scene I think, given that no words (barely any) were spoken.

It was Hershel's episode for me, he stole it. Good stuff!

Oh yeah, Hershal finally got to shine again too. He managed to keep most of them alive and saved the day (inside the prison complex anyways). We haven't had one so centric on him in what feels like years.

I agree with everyone that this was definitely Hershel's episode to shine, which has been overdue. He's become one of the stronger characters on the show. There were moments where I thought he was going to bite the dust. Especially when he was protecting that unbalanced Lizzie, who almost got herself killed trying to save Glenn. But now I have a bad feeling that Hershel's time is about to run out on the show.

I don't think he'll die just yet. He's been with the group a long time and until they can find a suitable replacement for him it wouldn't be feasible to kill him off. Had Caleb lived, then I can see maybe Hershel getting bit or killed by the Governor or dying some other way.

Without some kind of reliable doctor though they'll be relying hard on him.

Agreed. The look Rick gave Carl was a "holy hell, that boy can shoot" look. So if nothing else, he seems to have come to respect his son, at least as a fighter.

Heh, does Carl remind anyone else of Jake in The Dark Tower?

Rick & Carl, Zombie slaughterers INC! :D Great episode, just very claustrophobic and tense, loved the scenes with Maggie and Herschel and dammit I thought Glen was a goner for a moment there! :wow:

Yeah, I thought Glen was going to die too. I'm really happy he didn't.

Man this episode was great. Was holding my breath during those last 10 minutes. The very ending though...:cmad:

I thought the scene with Rick and Carl gunning down the walkers was amazing. I got chills.

This episode was pretty good! For me, Best episode of the season so far!
