Looks pretty good,i wonder how they are gonna end it though given the originals classic ending

Wuh-hoaaa......I LOVE the original, very cautious but intrested in this remake.

Okay, I've just watched it and my first thought is, "No, no, no!"

The Wicker Man isn't Silent Hill, it's not a traditional horror movie. It's about the growing unease of going into a community that is different to you. The only horror in The Wicker Man is at the end, and it's all the more powerful for that.

Having said that, none of today's kids would sit through the original version. It's slow-burning, has no action, few shocks and is almost purely dialogue. I'll go see this new version because I like Cage, the director and the original movie, but I'm not expecting it to be in the same league as the classic original.

Can someone please tell me how the original ended? (In spoilers, please. ;))

Damn, it looks like another horror movie with little dead girls and without any sense.

Cage should really come back to dramas.

The whole missing girl case is a ruse to get Edward Woodwards virgin detective to the island and burn him alive in the Wicker man to sacrifice him to the sun gods to save their crops

I don't see how it had no sense,it was clear what his character had went through and why he went to the island, whats behind it will be the crux of whether it works

Also, no one tell DOG LIPS the ending.
Dude, The Wicker Man is one of the best films in the universe. If you haven't seen it then you need to get off of the computer right now and go buy it immediately.
Then watch it 3 or 4 times.
Then report back and join me in saying

No!
******ED HOLLYWOOD
NO!

You're right, as a movie-****e I have sinned. I shall hunt it down and watch it immediately. :(

the first Wicker Man was BORING!

hardly a classic. although, the ending was good, but so is the ending in all the m. night slamylamy-whatever movies... and i'd hesitate to call any one of those a classic. how come every time a movie is remade, people all of a sudden start treating the original like it was something more than it was?

Wasted at least 20 seconds writng those spoilers for you mutt:mad:

Hey, Opie?
The Wicker Man has been considered to be a classic for decades. It was incredibly cool, unmatched in atmosphere and understated weirdness. Now go watch the Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift.

yeah, you're right... because i didn't like the Wicker Man, i must like crap like Tokyo Drift. you've got me pegged.

I'll go rent it today if I can. I remember watching a program about Christopher Lee and he said that he feels its his best movie.

I was just kidding. I don't know what kind of movies you like. All I know is that if you were bored by the Wicker Man, a movie I've memorized because I've watched it 20+ times, a movie with music so good that I figured out the chords and have sat and played the songs over and over, then we sure have different taste in movies.

However, saying that it's only now that there's a re-make that it's considered to be a great movie is plainly ridiculous and shows a lot of ignorance on your part, as several scholarly books have been written about the movie and there's a huge, devoted cult following for the film and the album.

It is definitely Christopher Lee's best work and if I'm remembering correctly it is his favorite of the over 100 films he was in.

i've never heard of it called a classic, so, i'll claim ignorance on that one, and i'll agree, the music was... haunting to say the least.

Well, maybe in the re-make they can replace it with some real wicked Linkin Park or Hoobastank!

I also want to say, I for one have to love a movie where the stodgy, uptight Christian cop asks, "Is that "normal" to have a bunch of naked girls jumping over a bonfire?"
And a cheery, wild-haired Christopher Lee says, "Of course. If they were wearing clothes they'd catch fire!"

:)
the best.

I've not seen the original yet... but I have every intention of seeing it.

I will not see one second of this ****ty remake.

This "Wicker Man" remake will join the other failed Hollywood remakes of excellent British Films

maybe you missunderstood, i really did dig the music in the original... i wasn't being sarcastic.

I'm glad you dug it. I was mainly making fun of the re-make craze and the desire to update things that are partially good because of the time in which they originally came out.

I think the best reason to remake is for visual effects. Sorry, King Kong's cool, but I'd rather see some effects that actually look real like Pete Jackson's remake.

But with the Wicker Man, there are no effects. It's perfect as is.:(

Wicker Man is a love it/hate it movie ... Viewers will be one or the other.

The first time I watched it was an experience, simply because I did not know what was coming but I cannot imagine watching it again ... Dark, brutal and very depressing.

i love the original. I bought the wooden box special edition with the theatrical cut and the extended cut for my birthday 2 years or so ago. I heard good things, and i love Christopher Lee, so i picked it up. Outstanding film. I love the ending. Speaking of which, i wonder how they're gonna tackle that. You just cant do that in movies these days, which is why i thought it was great.

I STILL dont see why they feel the need to remake it. There's nothing corny about it at all. The fact that it's more disturbing than actually scary makes it all the more better. The ending is just...wow. Remakes suck. There is no purpose in remaking films that have already established themselves as good movies.

besides, i heard a sequel was planned for the original, with Christopher Lee in it, and this is all rather recent news(within the last 2 or 3 years or so). Why not just do that instead?

im downloading the trailer now, so we'll see. I like Nicholas Cage alot, but im not sure if i want to see it or not.
