They are going to keep the belt on Naomi for 5 months, and she hasn't done anything with it, as there are at least 4 women more over then her on the show. :funny:

SD has two great champions in AJ and the Usos, and two awful champions in Jinder and Naomi. Its painful, especially as RAW has 5 great champions at the moment.

I agree with all of this, except I think Naomi is more average than awful.

I just think it's funny how much bigger the US title feels than the World title, due to who is feuding for it and how it is presented.

Yeah, there is a reason why there are not many promos from Naomi.
It is beyond me how they could give her the title when there are others who are more over, who sell more merchandise, who can cut promos etc.

Wouldnt call Jinder particular awful on his own, but everything around his title reign is pretty bad yeah.
Orton as his opponent doesnt help at all, not when Mahal himself is not the greatest wrestling personality and most charismatic guy.
Then you have the fact that he isnt particular great in the ring, working with Orton doesnt help on that either.
And last but not least a writing team that cant even write good stuff for the american guys.

Im still liking the idea of Jinder Mahal as champion...but the way they do it is just weak.

I don't think it's fair to blame the champions for lack of a solid storyline. I think Jindar has done well with being thrust into the spotlight. He gets serious heat like a heel champ is supposed to and his matches are okay. He's stuck in a LONG feud with Orton who's coasting more than not.

Naomi also gets a solid face reaction, but instead of having her feud with Charlotte or Lynch, they've had all the ladies feuding with each other to fight Naomi and Naomi stuck feuding with Lana who can barely wrestle.

It's not always the champs, sometimes it's creative.

I agree about Jinder. I like him as a champ, and I will be very happy when this stuff with him and Orton is over. Orton is boring IMO. Give Jinder someone better to work with. He's been a great heel and like you said, is handling this spotlight as the champ very well.

I think a Jinder vs. Cena or Jinder vs. AJ Stylez feud would be MONEY.

Jinder definitely needs a better opponent. The feud with Orton is dull.

does AJ's US Championship even have his name on the name plate? it looks blank

The Usos are turrrrible

Jinder does nothing for me at all in the ring. His promos are okay, but his work inside the ring is awful. He definitely isn't the Miz or Bliss on the mic and he is a typical roided up monster in the ring.

Naomi gets a okay face reaction sometimes. Key word is sometimes and almost always with the entrance, which might be piped in. You don't get people cheering her name like they do Becky and Charlotte. Her matches are super dead, also bad, and Becky and Charlotte are way more over as faces. Lana can barely wrestle, gets more of a reaction.

The reason they have all the other women feuding is to keep the belt on Naomi, because no one is going to like or buy her going over Becky or Charlotte. Which is a problem for Naomi, because she can't wrestle (also really bad on the mic), and they are the only ones who can make her look competent.

So GFW has suspended their champion, who will probably blame WWE for the suspension.

Also the two UK promotions that the WWE is working with, ICW and Progress have their women's champions in the Mae Young Classic.

Some think him winning the US Title is a step down after he had been WWE Champion, but I disagree. Ever since he step foot inside the WWE, I wanted AJ Styles to win all of the titles he's eligible for and not just be WWE Champion. My definition of greatness in WWE is winning all of the titles, not just world titles. Stone Cold, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Kurt Angle, The Rock and Undertaker won secondary titles as well, whether it was the IC, US, Tag Team Titles or even the defunct titles like Hardcore or European.

Some WWE Superstars have only one individual title reign. AJ Styles so far has two with two different titles.

Not only that, and people may disagree, but I think the US title was elevated back when Cena held it and has held onto that prestige with some of the title holders like Jericho, Owens, and Styles.

The U.S. is bigger than the WWE title right now to me. It has been since the Orton/Mahal feud started. I wanted to like Jinder but I just can't. He's getting heat so that's cool for him.

A year and half in, I give AJ's run in the WWE an A. It could have been a lot worse for him in the WWE. I know people have complained that he had a match against Shane at WM 33, but it could have been a lot worse for him as he could have ended up in the Andre Battle Royal or not even have a match on the card. Besides, his match with Shane wasn't awful and he got his WrestleMania win. Now there are people who wished he was the WWE Champion again, but again, it could have been a lot worse for him. When Smackdown comes on every Tuesday, we know for sure he'll be on every week as the same cannot be said for others. He's been booked better than I thought he would be when he arrived. If he's booked like this for the remainder of his time in the WWE, when he retires, he's going to be a WWE guy for the rest of his life.

When he arrived, I was very concerned (as I think we all were) that they weren't going to book him correctly. I was glad I was very wrong. I didn't want him stuck in the WWE Title scene forever, I wanted him to go back and forth between the US Championship and WWE Title scenes. I had some hope that if they booked him well, he would win all of the titles in WWE that he was eligible for, and not just be a World Champion. He also has a clean win over Cena and that doesn't happen all that much.

So well, done WWE for booking AJ Styles the way I had hoped he was going to be booked. And he'll be WWE Champion again. It's not a matter of if, but when.

Hunter making this thread a better place. :woot:

There will be people who see this photo and think: "Ronda Rousey to WWE?" and there could be some substance to it since it looks like one of her MMA friends, Shayna Baszler is going to be in the Mae Young Classic and another one, Marina Shafir is engaged to Roderick Strong.

Finishing up Smackdown from last night.

Mike and Maria's "Power of Love" gimmick may be my least favorite thing on SD each week. Maybe it's because I didn't keep up with her outside of WWE, but I just think Maria is terrible, like all of her segments scream "bad B movie actress" to me.

Can someone explain the appeal of Dixie Carter in WWE? I don't get it, she didn't own WCW, or ECW, or JCP. We're the only part of the audience who would get anything out of it, and she's not even popular with hardcores. It's one step above making Gabe Sapolsky an on-air character in WWE and treating it like a big deal. It's weird that some people want this to be a thing.

At its peak Impact got similar average viewership to what Smackdown gets now. A little lower, but pretty close.

Not that I think it's a good idea to bring Dixie Carter into WWE (or any other promotion, ever), but there's a reason everybody knew who AJ Styles was when he debuted in WWE. Most people still watching WWE's product probably know who Dixie Carter is. Most WWE fans know that Kurt Angle didn't just fall off the face of the earth when he was gone from WWE.

While not the best actor, she was a decent on air heel that brought some good heat on her. As well understanding that, unlike Stephanie, if you tear down a face you need to get your comeuppance.
