The Wrestling Thread's Never Been So Disgusted With a PPV... - Part 139

Well........I didn't feel all that great when I sat down to watch the Rumble and when Rey's music hit I was deflated but I almost expected it. The booing at the end when Batista won was justified, wrestling or should I say wWE seem to think they are the only business in which the customer isn't right.

Bryan vs Bray was an excellent match and sets the bar for this year as the best match so far, Bryan can wrestle a broom and make it work but Bray brought plenty to it as well and was made a star.

They wasted one of Brock's limited dates on THAT?

I'm not sure what Orton vs Cena was like as the crowd were so distracting, I mean I know most of us are sick of, or never liked, that combination, but this was never a title match Bryan should have been in, so the crowd were oddly harsh on them.

The Rumble match had this nervy aura hanging over it, like the fans were anxious to know if Bryan was in it or not, it was a very odd atmosphere. Kane botching his run-in to screw Punk killed the last morcel of hope the crowd had left as they knew it was coming in advance.

WWE made a real effort to make Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns last night, and to an extent they did, but it was so overshadowed by the anger that Bryan was being pushed aside for a 45 year old has-been who was never that big of a star anyway, took away from them, which is a shame as seeing two new guys getting elevated should be a great thing.

I said I was going to quit if WWE pulled what they just pulled, but after the amazing crowd response of non stop boo's for the ******** WWE put on last night, I am curious to see Raw and see how they book around this mess. If they are smart they book Bryan vs Orton for the WWE title in the opening segment and end the night with Bryan as Champion.

Turn Batista heel and have Batista w/Flair vs Bryan w/Hogan at Mania.

Off note, but does anyone know on who Vince was actually interacting with in that gif above? I'm kind of curious to see how it really went down and who he was specifically reacting to.lol

Stacy Kiebler.

I won't believe it until it is happening, and even then I'd wait for the other shoe to drop with Bryan losing clean to Cena at some house show. They had their chance, but they missed out on easy, good storytelling in a big way. I don't buy into a damn thing because they've showed time and time again that they do whatever they want because people will still show up to some level. Unless the fans stop giving the WWE money it's going to be SSDY.

i'm calling it here now raw will state that last night was the most controversial rumble in history and play the crowds boos off

bryan wont even be an after thought

I like this idea, better than inserting Bryan into the Batista/Orton match and making it a triple threat, Ive never been a fan of having triple threat matches or fatal 4 ways at WM.

Don't just plan to push him. Push him. Now!

I think they should have Daniel win the title at EC and face Batista or make it a three way than winning it tonight..although it would be great for the wwe universe and business

But naa,Vince still probably doesn't care and will start Daniel vs Sheamus build up tonight

Naaaaaahhhhhhhh............

this is the WWE..........they aren't that smart.........

JR's Thoughts on The Royal Rumble:

I don't think that I have received as much impassioned feedback on a WWE PPV event in recent memory as I have over the past several hours after the Royal Rumble ended. Many fans were downright pissed and shared their venom with yours truly.

Firstly, the vast majority of fans wanted Daniel Bryan to win the Royal Rumble so that he would be in line for a WWE World Title match at WM30. That did not happen.

Yet.

Obviously, Daniel Bryan has made an amazing connection with the WWE fans and I'd venture to say that today, 24 hours after the Royal Rumble, that Daniel Bryan has NEVER been more popular in his entire career.

At this point, Daniel Bryan becoming WWE World Champion would be great but it certainly isn't definitively necessary for DB to be 'over.' Daniel Bryan is 'over' and his fans are seemingly rallying behind him in a verbal show of solidarity and support. If Bryan embraces this support, then a happier ending is more likely to occur.

Will all this soap opera-esque content actually lead to happier days for Daniel Bryan fans? My guess is yes unless the sports entertainment business has changed even more than I perceive. However, I do think that patience needs to be infused here and that's something that many of us aren't long on.
Personally, I'm happy to stay tuned and enjoy the Daniel Bryan bullet train ride to wherever its destination may be. I am a firm believer that great talents cannot be suppressed permanently and that there is a method to what is perceived to be the madness that is on going.

The Daniel Bryan phenomenon will likely result into a spirited and emotional Monday Night RAW that will also include a healthy TV rating. How WWE addresses the DB 'conspiracy' and creates an interest in the Elimination Chamber on PPV has my curiosity.

Huge night in Pittsburgh for Roman Reigns who set a record with 12 eliminations of which I guessed might happen. Of course, some think that I received inside info on that matter but if they only knew how little I communicate with anyone in WWE they would change their tune. It was a creative calculation that made sense to me. Today, it still makes sense.
Reigns is a future star and if he had won the Royal Rumble that would have been just fine with me. However, Reigns, as a fan favorite, chasing either villains Orton or Batista would be money matches. Reigns era is rapidly approaching. The foundation is being laid.

Bray Wyatt was another of the younger talents who had a break through night and was a bigger star after the Rumble than before it. The 300 pounder with a 2nd gear athletically rose to the occasion vs. Bryan and then got more 'stretch' being involved in Cena's loss to Orton.
Big E had a few moments in the Rumble but not to the level of Reigns or Wyatt but a positive night for 'E' nonetheless.
I'd give the PPV a B- or C+ grade and I paid retail for it just like most fans and I am not clamoring for a 'refund.' In hindsight, could things have been executed differently? Absolutely. But isn't that the case with any show biz entity or even most sporting events?

But that was last night and the question now is what will happen on tonight's follow up Monday Night RAW?

I'm willing to let this Daniel Bryan storyline carry until WM.

if DB doesn't win the Championship, cleanly and legit, before or on WM, then this whole storyline would have been for nothing.

I'm trying to remain hopeful and positive about Daniel and WM but I wouldn't be surprised if Daniel isin't in the EC match either

I don't see why we have to wait. Guys like myself and Hunter defended the SummerSlan booking and took some flack for it. WrestleMania is always the end game for WWE. It's not about lack of patience it's about WWE giving people what they're waiting for, and if WWE doesn't give Bryan his big moment at the show the entire year is built around, then WWE deserves the hate. We have waited.

agreed.

there's only so long you can draw out a storyline until the audience starts getting bored, loses faith, or gets downright turned off.

that's why I'm willing to give them until WM.

after that, goodbye.

Let the hate flow through you:

I mean, hasnt it become clear that the general audience and the "smarks" alike have been united in this issue? From what I hear, Pittsburgh is NOT a Smark City but they BURIED THE HELL out of the things they didnt want to see or were tired of seeing.

This couldnt be made clearer to the WWE Brass than it already has been. You got apologists and posters on sites like Wrestlezone that treat the disappointed audience like crap because they arent trying to "eat sh__t and like the taste of it" by playing to WWE's desired reactions. What do they think will happen in a business where we are told that WE decide the stars but are later backhanded when we dont support "Their guys"?

How can people support a business telling their customers that they are wrong or that they know better than them? I mean what is their to gain by kissing WWE's ass at all costs unless you're getting paid under the table by them? I dont get it....I dont F__CKING get it AT ALL, Do any of you?

If the WWE had planned on pushing him, why did they not put him in the Rumble?

BruceBlitz's review was completely ON POINT about the Royal Rumble and I dont even agree with him a lot of the time.
