The Wrestling Thread's Never Been So Disgusted With a PPV... - Part 139

They try to keep US down and away from the top spots, but they can't ignore the reactions forever. Keep voicing your opinions.

Yes, they will ignore the reactions Bryan.

I think it's the best thing Batista could do. I'm not a Batista fan or hater, but I'm sure he got to the back and told Vince point blank to turn him heel.

So will regular cable subscribers be able to access all the previous PPV's on demand, or is that just offered on the net?

Sorry, bumping this cos the thread is flying through pages and am interested to hear what you guys would do!

So this is an interesting one...... Given the monstrosity that was the Rumble, and the fans reaction, imagine you're WWE. What do you do to fix this? Forget Vince, HHH..... What would YOU do to fix this mess?

(Spoiler tags cos it's huge);

As someone said above, I'd do something like this;

RAW
- Bryan opens Raw. He acknowledges the chants and support and says he'll never be 'that guy'. The man in charge won't have it. Cue 'NO!' chants.
- Batista comes out and plays up to what happened at the Rumble (I mean seriously, WWE can't deny it, so why don't they use it?). Telling Bryan how he came back after 4 years and won the Rumble, but the ungrateful fans still chanted for Daniel and booed him, the winner. Batista tells Bryan he's right. He'll never be champion.
- Mid show, HHH announces that the Elimination Chamber match will be for the title and will feature CM Punk, John Cena, Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns and Batista.

ELIMINATION CHAMBER
- Cena is distracted by the Wyatt's on the outside and is eliminated
- Roman Reigns eliminates Orton
- Batista eliminates Roman Reigns
- CM Punk is distracted/attacked by Kane and is pinned by Roman Reigns
- Bryan eliminates Roman Reigns
- CM Punk somehow distracts/attacks Batista, allowing Daniel Bryan to hit the running knee, and pins Batista.
- Daniel Bryan is WWE World Heavyweight Champion

RESULTING FALLOUT
- Triple H effectively says Punk is the reason that Bryan is Champion, and he needs to be taught a lesson. The resulting match is Triple H v CM Punk at WrestleMania
- John Cena vs Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania
- Daniel Bryan vs Batista at WrestleMania - Daniel Bryan retains the title
- Kane vs Orton as punishment from HHH for Orton losing at EC
- Lesnar vs Undertaker.
- New Age Outlaws vs Goldust & Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania. Cody attacks Goldust after they lose to NAO (revenge for the Rumble)

How about you guys? How would you fix it? Short of time travel, I mean.....

oh really now

Here's hoping he gets ****canned. There's still some hope to save Mania...

And I just saw that the BBC is even talking about Bryan not being in the Rumble Match.

Batista flipping off a fan.

All of that sounds possible, but I'm almost hoping Batista wins the title at the Chamber and Bryan gets the title shot. Bryan winning the belt at Mania instead of retaining it, IMO, would create a much more special visual.

not bad, not had at all, but I doubt they have Bryan come out first.

Watched the Royale Rumble. WTF?

Really?

I've never seen a entertainment company that talks so much about giving fans what they want and wanting so much fan interaction ignore what those fans want.

What is the point of all these Tout, Twitter, voting polls, ect?

The way to save WrestleMania now is to have Batista become heel ASAP, and play up his dislike of the fans booing him, and souring his return, in favor of rooting for Bryan. Also, have "The Authority" go full heel, side with and play up Batista as the New Face of the WWE, which would also help further the angle on the Orton side of things, who would have been replaced, as well as, continue their storyline burial of Bryan as the guy who just can't be WWE Champion.

Have Bryan enter the Chamber match, and win, becoming WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

And thus, we'd have a Triple Threat Match set up for Mania, that not only would end Authority angle, but also have Bryan come out on top, retaining his title.

Batista flipping off a fan.

It's okay if he does this at the Royal Rumble, but if he does this at the Guardians of the Galaxy Premiere in August.....well lets such say that someone else will play Drax in the future.

I'm not going to defend Batista's reaction because threatening to harm someone and then going on an obscene gesture rampage really isn't justifiable, but neither is the crowd's behavior.

This situation would be akin to Alyson Hannigan having gotten death threats and vitriolic hate-fueled letters * in the aftermath of the death of her onscreen girlfriend, Tara.

If fans are upset, they ought to direct their ire where it really belongs instead of acting like children and ****ting on people who don't deserve to get shat on.

* Yes, this kind of reaction happened, albeit to series creator Joss Whedon (the person who made the decision to kill Tara).

What Batista got was chump change compared to the chants an ECW or Attitude Era crowd would have given him. The Rock has gotten "Die Rocky Die" chants before...all Batista got was booed. He should just get over himself...simple as that.

This. I find it hilarious that a company that embraces just about every social media platform as much as WWE does has been getting massacred on said platforms for going on 15 hours.

Like I said, I'm not defending Batista's reaction, but, as the old saying goes, "two wrongs don't make a right".

As for crowds chanting "Die Rocky Die", that's even more classless in my opinion.

I'm sorry, I try not to descend into arguments in this thread, but what the hell are you talking about? Booing things you don't like is not only a staple of American athletic events, it's almost expected. If people were throwing dangerous objects into the ring or trying to jump into the action over the security barriers, that would be wrong, but expressing verbal displeasure at an athletic event in a US stadium is practically a god-given right.

When I sit here and read about - or see - crowds behaving like the one in Pittsburgh did last night, I don't see a crowd just doing what crowds do, I see a crowd being classless, obnoxious, and harassing.

The easiest way for Batista to make that go away.....Cut a heel promo and tweak his character to make the most out of it. That's what Rock did in the early 2000s.

With that said, wrestling is interactive so they should expect boos when the audience don't like something. The fans are NOT cast members that should be forced to play along to WWE's whims

@digificWriter

I do agree that people should step back a bit and not punish the ones who are not involve with whatever problems the WWE has backstage. IE Poor Rey getting booed at is passive aggressive.

But Wrestling is pure entertainment, and many of the stars are determined by the fans. A lot of the stars from the Attitiude Era became stars..because of the fans.

At the same time, there IS a problem because this is an ongoing thing from show to show. The crowd and reactions can be really funny (New Jersey) but people know that wrestling has always determined their stars through the reactions.

That's how Stone Cold and The Rock became Baby Faces. No matter what the WWF did back then to make them heels, fans were persistent and they're the ones who make the stars, not the WWE. They kept cheering and chanting for them, and eventually the WWE ran with it. For some reason now, they're not doing that anymore.

It's a conscious decision to hold back dudes like Daniel Bryan, or even Kofi Kingston, Dolph Zigler, or who ever. Where's Zack Ryder now? CM Punk had to fight tooth and nail to get where he's at, but that's almost through force. Like crashing the party and not wanting to leave. And it worked for him but not for everyone else, and sadly, I don't know McMahnon really like Punk. Just vibes.

My point is there IS an internal problem with the WWE, and yes, they're kinda becoming like WCW where they are relying on the old guard to draw viewers..instead of making legit stars. At this rate, it'll be 2020, and you'll still see Triple H coming down the ring.

Sums up my feelings right here.

just finished watching the rumble, yea the fans there were right to boo batista winning
again the fans chanting for bryan when he's not even in the match speaks volumes about what is "Best for Business" in the eyes of the fans

great showing by reigns in the rumble match
the bray/bryan match was great aswell

Watch this. This is the POWER of the fans, which probably ticked off Triple H.

This happened in December, and they still treat Bryan like poo. So obviously his treatment as of late was totally deliberate and I think that's why the fans so mad. The management knows that he's the future and they won't' do anything about it.
