Those posters are very nice. I wish the new shows started this month....

Interesting that the middle 4 eps will all be stand alones with the 1st and 6th book ending the mini run as mythology eps.

I like it that way. I'm finding as I make my way through the series for the first time (midway through S5 now) that the standalone MOW episodes are the true heart of the show, and the mythology eps are kind of the flourishes, which is the exact opposite of just about every other serialized genre show I've ever watched.

I'm gonna have to binge so hard on this if I want to watch the whole thing before the new episodes. Lawd.

Looking at the premiere date for the new episodes, I don't think there's a chance in hell I can binge the whole thing by then. Any chance I can get a list of the episodes from the last two, mostly Mulder-less seasons that are actually vital?

i received the bluray set for christmas. i was pleasantly surprised to discover the 2 movies were included.

First review in: It sucked
What we’re left with is a very underwhelming hour that will force even diehard fans (and yes, I was one of them) to consider whether pushing onward is really worth the time. Ah, time. Maybe it’s dulled the memory a bit, but was Duchovny, famously laconic anyway, always this sedated? Anderson seems equally placid and unhurried on her part, which makes the whole affair seem (as it did when a sneak preview was shown to critics in the summer) slightly off. Out of context in the summer, the clip seemed like a spoof. A large portion of the room was laughing because we thought that’s what it was. Turns out, no, but at least in context there’s less wince-inducing hilarity to the first episode. And yet, nearly every scene seems stunted and out of any kind of dramatic rhythm.

Eh. I'll wait to see more reviews. That THR critic always seems to be a bit of a stuck-up hardass.

I dont care much about stuck up critics, the fans that saw the episode loved it, so I know I will be ok with this after all these years.

Here in Perth Australia they have been running old episodes on Saturday night (2-3 each night) and over the last two week they have played two of my favourites:

"Home," with the deformed sons and mother, strong stuff but made extremely watchable with the humor and music. Who can forget the playing of Johnny Mathis singing Wonderful, Wonderful!

AND, "The Great Mutato," black and white humorous story line. I only assume that it played originally on Halloween.

The Black and White eps were usually always good if my memory serves me well.
My fondest ep is the one about The Smoking Man past ( don't remember the title ) but it started with him on a bench speaking a similar speech as Forest Gump.

IGN's review of the first episode was a little on the "Meh" side, but a bit more positive than that Hollywood Reporter review. This, however, is promising...

Episodes two and three of the new #TheXFiles are much stronger than the premiere and feel like classic episodes in the right ways.

Episode two is the James Wong episode and Episode three is Darin Morgan - and as Darin Morgan-y as you might expect/hope. #TheXFiles

While I'm sad they didn't get Vince Gilligan back to do one, I'm VERY glad they got a Darin Morgan ep in there. His are definitely some of my faves.

I really enjoyed his episodes, I just wish there were more of them than, like, four. :o

Fox is treating this like a guaranteed success. They are already talking about more.

been rewatching the series from the very beginning and am barely on season 5 right now. it's looking unlikely that i'll be done by next week once the new episodes air so i'm gonna have to DVR them to watch later

the 1st episode reviews have been lukewarm but most say they have a great setup for the continuing episodes. hope this revival does well enough to bring back more episodes or movies to give this series the closure it deserves
