Fox is looking to have more than the shortened, six-episode season that was ordered for last year’s revival … but also cautioned that its order won’t be as large as a traditional 22-episode broadcast series.

With more MOTW than Mythology, preferably.

10-13 episodes would be ideal, imo, if only because it ensures the majority would almost certainly be MOTW (and hopefully would leave enough time for Gilligan to do one or two). I am just...not here for the mythology eps anymore, and the small episode count of the last event series made it seem way too mythology-focused for me.

disagree.mythology is what always intrested me.and only 2 of last 6 episodes were that.

Yeah, Season 10 barely had any mythology episode. Also, they need to just finish the main mythology storyline. The I Want to Believe film was their oportunity to do so, they squandered it, then they had Season 10 for that and decided to keep on stalling.

Part of what made X-Files popular also was the fact that it's first seasons looked like they knew they were heading somewhere.

Just over three years after the last revival of the Chris Carter series was announced, Fox said Thursday that a new 10-episode run of the Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny-starrer is set to start production this summer.

This! Ever since X-Files began I always preferred the 'monster of the week episodes' to the alien conspiracy stuff which to be honest just bored me to tears.

After loving the first 7 seasons and most importantly the "monsters of the week", by season 8 I was done and bored. Got halfway through 8 and gave up. I skipped to the six part event and think I'm done. There's no more life in this show. Should I finish this event series? I'm halfway through.

damn mythology eps always WERE a confusing and convoluted mess in MY opinion...

I thought it was just me. Didn't know what was going on half the time. Especially with krycek and when an episode came up involving his sister I knew I was in for a snorefest.

The over abundance of MOTW episodes and a weak ass ongoing arc throughout the show is one reason I've yet to watch all of the older seasons. There's too much fluff in the show. I guess modern television has spoiled me. I need season long arcs and show long arcs to really feel satisfied.

That being said, in this previous season, the MOTW stuff was the best.
