In all seriousness, you must all watch this and realize what it means, and you must post it in any other board you might be apart of.
Do they, like, have a shot of that girls boobs in all their vids to make people watch them? That's quite funny.
Anyway, the thought of ISPs trying to pull something like this is quite scary and it wouldn't surprise me.
When you think about it, it's amazing that the Internet is as free to roam as it is. I do think the world wide web is a remarkable achievement. Why? Because never before have people been able to communicate with others across great distances with such speed and in such numbers, largely without restriction.
It's no surprise to me that certain people in the media and in politics are afraid of the Internet. Why? When a fox news report goes out, all it takes is for one person to upload a video on youtube showing why the fox news report is ********, and tens of thousands of people could watch that video. It's completely out of the medias hands and largely out of politicians hands, and that scares them. Not because they're concerned about peoples safety, they're scared that they can't fully control information that gets out to the masses.
I do think the Internet is something that needs to be protected.
But part of me feels that if ISPs tried to change their service over to a system where you pay, say, an extra £10 a month to visit an extra 100 websites, then they'll see a massive loss of customers. Not only that, but a lot of people run businesses on the net exclusively. And even if their business isn't exclusive to the net, the net is a large part of many peoples incomes. It would **** the economy too much to suddenly shut down peoples access to 'smaller' websites.
Like the guys in the vid said, all the ISPs care about is money. The government cares a lot about money too. Purely for that reason, I don't think a plan for ISPs to deliberately restrict access to websites would work.
