Lets see we got...

The Male Nurse that can fly
The Stripper with the mob after her
The Texan Cheerleader that can't kill herself
High Guy that can paint the future
Little Crazy Japanese dude that can bend the space/time continium and nobody beleives him (He's my favorite :yay: )
And Apu who's Dad got killed by the Texan Cheerleader's Dad.

And in the next episode, The Fat Cop that can read peoples minds.

Wow.

Wow.

Who says the male nurse can fly?

And I'm sure Greg Grunberg would appreciate you calling him a fat cop ;)

I have to say the most disturbing character is the Texan Cheerleader. She's a cutter/self-abuser who uses pain to cope with the fact she's adopted...but at the same time she heals herself.

My favorite is Hiro. Why? Because he's a comic book fan. He's the kid in all of us who at 10 tried to jump off the roof of home hoping we would fly. As cheesy as some of his dialouge was....he knows what it's all about. He knows that if you have something special about you then you damned well do something important with it. He'll probably be the token guy who makes a Justice League reference and suddenly everyone else realizes it's a good idea.

As for the Indian guy. You don't at first expect him to be one of the people who're "Heroes." But I think we'll find out that he like his Father have some sort of massive intelligence.

I don't really know that the cheerleader is really like that. She could be, but she could just as easily be self mutilating herself to see if she can, not because she thinks it will help her cope with traumatic events. She could have just as easily gotten into an accidnet of some sort one day, and saw herself start to miraculously heal. If that happened to me, I would probably try testing it out too by trying to injure myself, and when seeing that I couldn't injure myself, I would progress to more drastic things like jumping off of buildings and ramming steel rods through my neck.

My favorite already is the stoner artist. He's gonna be interesting.

Agreed

I don't think he can fly. In the trailer they call him the Dreamer. I think if anything, he'll be the one who links everyone together or keeps them together.

Edit:

The japanese guy's name is "Hiro".

It was a play on his name when his friend called him a "Super Hiro".

Yes, Hiro is a japanese name.

Peter Petrelli (whatever his last name is) CAN'T FLY
his brother, Nathan, can
so far, Peter's only ability is his psychic link to Nathan

Hiro pwns all.

Probably a psychic link to others as well. He can "connect" to people.

I mean he's connected to his brother, the cab driver, the girlfriend of the painter. Some are stronger than others but I think he'll tie them all off.

i think it's only his brother
we already have a psychic
and they had him talk about his brother for a reason
plus, he probably thinks he can fly because he's tapping into Nathan's psyche

and furthermore

We have a mind reader and from the previews for the next episode, he may not last very long. There are different levels of psychic abilties.

Note how he's the only character to have been in contact with at least 3 other major characters. The painter, the painters g/f and the dead scientists son. I also think the comatose father of the girl who's dating the painter is gonna have some importance.

Again, the ads call him the Dreamer.

Peter Petrelli is the one that links the others together and is, arguably, the main character, holding the beginning and ending of the episode together. While he may not be a "mind reader," a psychic is more than that... in fact, based on the premise it could be argued that all the powers in the show are 'psychic' in nature. That said, the Dreamer has the ability to see things, and, like Hiro, has actual heroic qualities. He's the heart of the show, no doubt about it.

Peter has only had a chance to link to Nathan but little says he can't make that link to others. Lots to be said... I wanna watch it again now.

I say the cheerleader; it's like she WANTS her power to either not work or just go away.

Hmm, a storyline where a Hero does not want or tries to avoid accepting his or her abilities. Never heard that one before. ;)

has anybody thought about the stripper's son extremly high intelect?

how about who his father is? that could pretty much also give a whole lot of plot thread to cut from

and is it me, or were me and my girlfriend the only ones who actually saw a frickin comic book come to life last monday?

1-his intellect was no big deal to me b/c unless I'm mistaken, that's how he was on "My Wife & Kids".
2-the only thing that popped into my head regarding his father is that the dude's obviously black.
3-I saw pretty much what I expected to see. The Tim Sale art didn't hurt either.

I caught onto the smart kid but I didn't really care much for him thus I didn't address him. Much like how I avoid talking about the Stripper or the Cheerleader.
As for who his father is and the importance of lineage and abilities. The first hadn't crossed my mind but the second had when the Cheerleader asked about her real parents.
As for the comic book coming to life. I'd say no. A lot of comics are poorly written and recycle characters that have been used way to often. ;)

Yeah, but she wants neither the power nor the responsibility, from the get-go.

I love LOVED the Hiro character. Yes because he was a geek but also he hit every nail about being a hero right in the head. With the exception of the oracle artist, he probably has one of the greatest power out of all of the groups. Not to mention the best lines,(Shakespeare in Klingon has nothing on Star Trek in Japanese).

My sarcastic comment still stands.
