Things that DC did that you think were wrong.

You're obviously not friends with him anymore right?

could someone tell me why the thundercats all dressed like they went to fetish bars?
not like he man was a lot better with his fuzzy undies, but seriously what was going on back then? why didn't our parents notice that our heroes dressed like porn rejects?

He didn't wanna name his kid SHAFT?!?! WTF is wrong with him.

Anyone who wouldn't name their kid Panthro does not deserve to have friends, period.

I have a friend that says he's naming his kid Rohan. I guess Gondor sounds stupid.

I guess they assumed such things would go over the heads of little kids, or that those public service announcement style speeches would distract from the fetish bar look.

Anyhow, Panthro is all that and a bag of chips.

Back to the original topic, and this one goes back a few years, I wasn't a big fan of what some call Aquaman's "Viking phase", his hand bitten off by piranhas (Hell, the animated Justice League, which reduced him to a guest star, at least gave him the dignity of chosing to cut his hand off to save his son), and that look where he had half a piece of silverware strapped onto his shoulder. Something about this era of Aquaman bothered me, and I'm generally for upgrading him to give him a better standing in the DCU. Some of the stuff I've heard about what's happened to him during the OYL thing don't sound too good to me.

His look during those days wasn't all that great, but the way they handled his character otherwise was pretty cool. They were able to give him a badass regality without making him seem like a Namor clone, which is a feat.

Also, I don't like what I'm hearing about them turning Kyle Rayner into a new Parallax. I mean, what's that about?

DC nowadays = resuscitating the Silver Age. Kyle Rayner =/= a Silver Age character. Thus, Kyle = Parallax because Parallax = an untimely death.

Well, that's one of Aquaman's problems, isn't it? There's always a "but." His characterization during the hook-hand phase was awesome... but he looked like an idiot and still had fairly goofy powers. His power upgrade after getting the water hand was awesome... but forcing the Arthurian legend stuff into his backstory just didn't seem to work the way the writer wanted. Sub Diego gave him a new "kingdom" and allowed him to get into some political intrigue while keeping the action quota high... but he seemed to forget how to use his water hand, and he basically fell off the face of the Earth as far as the rest of the DC universe was concerned. The sword-and-sorcery, wandering nomad status quo of the current stories is awesome... but it was decompressed to the point of boredom and Orin was just some crazy sidekick rather than the main character.

I just don't get why someone can't simply integrate all of the good stuff--water hand, more traditional telepathy, regal personality, high sword-and-sorcery adventure with occasional geopolitical undertones--into one perfect Orin incarnation and then reintegrate him back into the Justice League and the larger DC universe for some more exposure. It really boggles my mind.

You articulate it better than I do.
