I know I will probably be alone on this board, but I have always loved the great Cobra Emperor. His dialogue was classic: "You insignificant piece of shriveled up shoe leather...how dare you accuse us of lying? I will see you staked out on an African anthill at high noon."

or

"Kneel before your master you pathetic losers."

However, he had some of the coolest over the top take over the world type speeches ever:

"Resistance to the rule of Serpentor is no more...the city of Washington now enters a new era...the dawning of a 1000 year rule of Cobra...all shall be crushed beneath Serpentor's iron heel!"

"I want their heads!!!...THIS I COMMAND!"

I know it would be a lot of work and probably too outrageous for the big screen but I would love to see their Emperor :)

the concept could be updated, especially with modern tech on gene splicing and speculative science on the matter..

Assuming you want to tie the origins into Cobra, a cult of scientists could create him, a regular human soldier who volunteers to be mentally brainwashed/indoctrinated with centuries of military strategy (see: Clockwork Orange) as well as physically enhanced with nanomites.. as their first in a line of "ultimate warriors".. but maybe Joe intervention destroys the lab and the head scientists, leaving prototype soldier 1- Serpentor. Only this guy, with his enhanced physical traits and OD-ing on conquer-lust, starts to see himself as the 'natural' new leader of Cobra, over Rex/Cobra Commander..

I'd just as soon deemphasize the vainglorious braggart of the cartoon, and make him a more competent strategist,

As long as he barks his famous "This I Command" phrase from time to time, then I am fine with changes...that is too important a catchphrase for him to lose...

I once wrote a fan fic where Serpentor is an advanced military A.I. programmed with battle tactics & strategies from the best military minds in history. He's used as a training program for the U.S. that gets corrupted by a virus created by Cobra & becomes self aware.

I actually prefer Serpentor over Cobra Commander.

I think there has been a plan for Serpentor all along hence the early establishment of advanced technology.

If they were to bring forth Serpentor in the next chapter then I definitely think it's being rushed along too much. It feels as if Gen. Joe Colton himself has been introduced too soon and if the go with Serpentor then tht only confirms this belief of mine.

Perhaps though, a trilogy is being done this quickly just to see if there is any type of market IF a more developed plot and such were to be done. I'd say if three films can pull in $1,000,000 then there is a bit of interest.

I've always thought Serpentor was a great character. I would love to see him in a film if it was done right.

Considering we witnessed Commander leaving Destro high and dry in Retaliation and his previous betrayal of McCullen to form his own much more public terrorist organization, maybe Destro's plan for a return coincides with unveiling Serpentor on the world. Serpentor could initially serve as the more objective and less crazy counterpart to Commander while Destro thinks he pulls his strings, only for Serpentor to out gambit Destro (possibly with the Baroness as a pawn in the game) only for the classic Cobra triumvirate to narrowly beat him in the war by betraying him to G.I.Joe.

It'd be kind of cool to see Serpentor and Destro deploying Iron Grenadiers against Commander's bodyguard of Crimson Guardsmen. Give Serpentor's troops a distinctly more imperialistic design as opposed to the fascist design of the regular cobra baddies.
