This May Be Your Show, But This Is MY Wrestling Thread! - Part 242

Great Balls of Fire sounds like a PPV we would have gotten in 1998 or 1999.

They own great PPV names like Starcade, Halloween Havoc, Bad Blood, Vengeance and Judgement Day. But no, **** that, "we need Great Balls of Fire damnit!" I'd love to hear Vince explaining this name and concept. Hearing Vince say "goodness gracious great balls of fire" would have me rolling.

I really hope WWE starts naming all their ppv's after songs from the fifties and sixties.

You know "Great Balls of Fire" would not be a strange name for a PPV if it was PWG. But it's WWE and that makes it just weird.

none of those are great

I never ever understood "Starcade"

sounds like an 80s Galaga knockoff

I don't watch Smackdown, due to lack of availability. So I have a question just how over is Jinder?

Not at all. They took him from jobber to main eventer way too fast to have any credibility.

examples of what...?

this 'Balls' thing is dumb, no question about it

unless there is some sort of inferno match its kind of pointless

Give me some great payperview names that WWE owns, that are better than what I had posted and aren't currently being used.

I can't wait to hear wrestlers say it.

"OWENS! I want that title at Great Balls of Fire."

I will laugh. every. single. time.

This Sunday, someone's gonna get taken out behind the woodshed and be given the biggest ass whuppin' of their life at Good Golly Miss Molly Look What the Cat Drug In!

Some fantastic news today:

Tomoaki Honma back on his feet after breaking his neck in a freak accident on a DDT from Jado

He still has a long recovery ahead but this is so great to see.

Now hopefully Shibata can follow suit.

More importantly, NJPW needs to realize wrestling is a pretend sport and not encourage their stars to be unreasonably stiff in the ring.

Honma's injury had nothing to do with stiff wrestling. It was a rope hung DDT.

It was Shibata's injury that was a result of stiff headbutts, and yes, stiff headbutts should be banned, but he only has himself to blame.

And no, crusading against stiff wrestling in general is NOT more important than a man regaining his ability to walk.

You just took an extremely positive story and then used misinformation to try and politicize it into a criticism of a company.

Freak injuries happen. Tyson Kidd broke his neck on a move that Samoa Joe delivered safely thousands of times. The iconic Sting forgot to tuck his chin and ended his career on a basic turnbuckle powerbomb. Those incidents weren't WWE's fault and Honma's injury wasn't NJPW's. Rey Mysterio, a traditionally very safe and extremely technically sound wrestler, killed another man in the ring with a basic dropkick.
