But I haved always wondered why in Movies, almost anything with Karate, Fighting, Ninjas etc what is the point of them shouting Hyah & any other shout like that everytime they hit someone or something

I think it has something to do with breathing and focus.
I believe they are supposed to do the same thing when being hit.

Because each time they kick, they are kicking hyah!!

Also in part, intimidation of the opponent.

The exhaling of breath like that when you kick or punch has been proven to make the force of it stronger than if you don't.

There's no such thing as a 'stupid' question...

...until today.

There are no stupid questions, just stupid answers.

Because God smites those who don't shout that. :csad:

As others have asserted, the sound they make is to intimidate the opponent.

The Power Rangers movie.

"Well... you put it in there, and... if you put it in there, then it's... fair game, for anyone who wants to eat it..."
"Fair game, huh? Well, maybe this is fair game! Heeyah!"
"Ow! Hey!"
"Yeah, that's right! It's a karate chop! Keeyai!"
"Ow!"
"Teeyah!"
"D'oh!"

Have you guys ever heard the original red ranger's Kiai from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers?

Its ****in hilarious.

Well, sure as hell beats "COBRA LALALALALALALALALALALALALAAAAA!!!"

in films, it's is used for exaggeration, realy fighting noises are taught to be shorter and sharped.

just like how powder is used to exaggerate movement and make contact seem more fierce than it actually is...

notice how in battles featuring weapons, these sounds usually don't take place in order to allow for the 'clang' or 'thud' of wood to be the dominant effect, although technically the 'shout' should still be present.

it's all cinematography at the end of the day, doing what they want to make scenes, more intense. (especially since sounds are usually dubbed in at the end of a shoot).
