Thor Dark World Score, Is Patrick Doyle coming back?

Oh, don't get me wrong, Doyle's Thor comes in after Hulk. That score is a beauty, and I am disappointed he didn't return, but like stated before, Marvel sucks with musical continuity.

Yeah its a shame, but Tyler did use something very much like the main theme from IM1 in IM3, and in Rambo 4 he used the main theme from the previous movies, so I was hoping he would use a little of the Thor 1 theme here at the very least, seems we dont get any at all.

well we don't know yet. when the Soundtrack is released or we see the movie then we'll see if he used any hints of Doyle's notes

^Well people who have seen the movie have commented they didnt hear anything from the 1st movie in there, so I am going by them for now.

Amazon gave me a free MP3 of the album for pre-ordering the CD.

Patrick Doyle is one of my heroes and I was gutted to hear he wasn't coming back, but Tyler's score kicks all kinds of ass. This is far better than IM3 which I liked very much.

Thor was about a God learning humility and that's reflected very much in his lovely theme. The Dark World is presumably about Thor grossing galaxies and kicking ass and Tyler's theme conveys that very, very well.

This score is HUGE. Like it makes all the other MCU seem tiny in comparison.

Tyler won me over big time with this one.

I'll maybe upload some. I'm wary though, the score actually spoils the movie. You'll understand what I mean a bit later.

Thanks for giving your thoughts on the score, it sure sounds promising. I listened to a handful of the samples and while Tyler didn't reuse anything I felt like the first track still was very much in spirit of one of the two most memorable themes from the first one.

Because of the track titles? Read Em already :p but for others I understand using caution, or do you mean something else?

Not track titles, the actual music spoils the movie. I understand that doesn't make sense right now but it will soon enough.

Loki and presumably Malekith also get themes. It's Thor's mammoth, unabashed heroic theme that steals the show though.

Maybe so but then it begs the question: Is musical continuity even important? I don't happen to think so. I don't need it to know these are the same characters and it offers an extra chance for more variety in their scores. I'll always have Doyle's great score from Thor1. Lets hear a new idea, why not?

I love going to a movie and hearing reprisals of various themes, ideas being expanded, and new ideas coming from old. I love hearing something new, and it works great (think along the lines of the X-Men movies, IM3's score, the HP franchise), but hearing those familiar themes come back is great.

Eh, to each his own I guess. The way I see it, if I wanted to hear those old scores again then I'd just go watch the films they were attached to.

Seriously guys, be warned about spoilers. If you want to go unspoiled do not listen to the score, take my word on it. It gives something very big away.

Let me ask you this, is there dialogue in it? I've already been spoiled on one part, which is lame. Might just listen to it anyways.

There's no dialogue but I can't tell you how it spoils the movie without actually spoiling it.

It's something I never expected and wouldn't have wanted to know before seeing the movie.

What in the world? This sucks! I can't see the movie for 2 weeks and I can't listen to the soundtrack. :waa: :waa:Where the hell is the gigantic smilie for screaming?

huh, weird. I'm gonna listen to it regardless, because I have a feeling I know the spoiler already. But I can't say you didn't warn me. :o:o:cwink:

You can listen to the score but not track 19, that one has the spoiler.

Hmm. Interesting. I might skip it. I may not.
